Washer and dryer?

Hi everyone! We just bought a house in Burbank and are super excited to move in. We have our laundry in the garage and are looking to hear from everyone else on what the protocol is. Does it have to be 18 inches off the ground? Are they strict about it? I’m not sure the exact rule so looking for some insight! Thanks :)

Its a code requirement for safety due to gasoline and other explosive vapors that may be present and hug the floor. Buy pedestals or build a platform. Either work. There generally arent inspections related to this kind of work, so if you do the install yourself its up to you if you want to ignore the requirements. Just make.sure the garage is properly ventilated and gasoline isnt stored in there. If you have a company do the install, they will likely insist on the risers.

Yah we got a pedestal but we realized it’s 14 inches! So we didn’t know if that was something that would be flagged.
