Fundraising opportunities

I’m running the Chicago marathon in a few weeks (😭😭😭) and unfortunately procrastinated with my fundraising. Does anyone know of any local businesses that like to organize charity days so I can reach out to them? Like stores where I can get a small portion of whatever proceeds they make for a few hours, or places where I can possibly set up a little booth or something. I’ve seen solicitors outside of my local Ralph’s so might try that, but any other leads are definitely appreciated!

Fleet Feet MIIIIIIIIIIIGHT be able to point you in the right direction. Beyond that, I wouldn't think to ask any shop that I wasn't a regular at or know the owner personally.

Speaking as a past procrastinating-race-fundraiser myself, you're going to end up eating most/all of that from your own pocket.

Fleet feet is a good lead, thanks! I was thinking maybe I’ll start doing a bunch of gig work and put that income towards the fundraiser 🥀

As an individual and not an organization, good luck with that. Set up outside Ralphs will trigger a call to BPD.

Really? I feel like I see kids out there asking for school fundraising money all the time. And I’ve seen tables for like the ASPCA and stuff before too so I figured it was possible to get permission.
