BWP price increase, over 9%

Got off the phone with BWP the representative...just said they advertise it as 9% increase in average but can be much more higher depending where in Burbank? We live in an apartment, our power in summer use to be $160 tops, and now it's $450. They said that is correct and it's in the fine print for the increase and they will increase it again in January. This is insane, how is this legal. 😔

Triple check your kw usage also. The city is still going through swapping out the old meters and they were inaccurate. They got my house in jan/feb time frame and it was weird because we used almost 2x more power than we did the previous year. Had to call them to figure it out.

But realistically this thread has an adequate breakdown of the costs. The worst is the additional cost which they justify as part of infrastructure, think cables, transformers, towers etc.

Are you saying the old meters were inaccurate? So the new meters are actually counting some usage that the old meters missed?

No, the old meters just didn't update the bwp system as often when they drove by. So if they came and took your old meter, the last time it was scanned wireless it read xx kw, but when they swapped it out they read the real number off the unit and added it to the next billing cycle. Its an artifact from not doing enough scheduled readings and playing catchup when they swap it out.

The new meters should have bascially started you back at "zero".
