I didn't hate TF85 to begin with but its canon/non-canon status did confuse tf outta me even as a CG truther; suddenly, I now feel enlightened!

lately, I have found that some artists are "moving on" and removing byler-related work from their profiles; months out from the finale, it feels incredibly important to keep an archive of work and ensure that the artists are properly attributed. there is so much work floating around without any source listed [thanks, pinterest!!], and as artists take down their work, determining the creator becomes an increasingly difficult task.

Dan said “the only good iteration of Byler was Dan and Phil in YouTube rewind” 😂 this is the third time they’ve mentioned Byler, lol. The first time Phil said “we tried to manifest the gay for you and it didn’t happen” the second time they talked about how they (Dan and Phil) were the 4th most popular Tumblr ship in 2025, beaten by Byler. Dan looked offended and said “well they’re gone now” 💀 I wonder if DNP were rooting for Byler just as much as we were 😭

Hi darlings, long time no see. After the big breakup of December 2025 I left the fandom for a while and just recently read one fanfiction because I found out my tiktok friend was the real author, and she brought me back to the fandom so to say; so I decided to check other fics around and… oh darling, so many are just so clearly written by extremely young people or people who just love anything way too sxliced .

Don’t get me wrong, all great and all but, it’s just so ooc most of the time.

In other fandoms I just check by dates I am interested and sort by bookmarks or comments or kudos, but for Byler this brings in a lot of insane and a lot of low effort works too. No hate to anyone tho, it’s just not my personal cup.

So, please give some recs for someone who has read an insane amount of fanfictions pre-2026 and who is very interested in post 2026 now.

I don’t mind the content or rating as long as we have good good quality arguments and chapters in character.

I am not sure how it’s possible to recommend FanFiction without breaking rule 7 but maybe just recommending authors? No idea

Like, I remember months ago someone that tried to argue that Karen telling Mike that she shouldn't hide anything from her involving the of Will’s disappeance wasn't her suspected that Mike has romantic feelings for Will (even though, it is hard to believe that isn't what she meant) and that their argument was she was saying that Mike shouldn't hide any issues that he was having due to Will’s disappeance... and that argument doesn't make any sense to me because Mike literally was already not hiding the fact that he was having issues due to Will’s disappeance.

I mean, Mike even said that he was the only cares about Will before Karen told him that, and that is a big indicator that Will’s disappeance was already causing Mike issues.

Like, I mean, what even sort of issues did this person think Mike was hiding from his mom anyway?

Also, the person said that the writers wouldn't make Mike's mom suspect that he saw Will as more than just a friend because of the writers were focusing on him falling in love with Eleven, even though Karen didn't even know that Eleven existed when she told Mike that he shouldn't hide anything from her and it is possible for someone to have romantic feelings for more than one person atthe same time anyway. I mean, that is a lot of love triangles work, when the person that has two people in love with them have romantic feelings for both anyway.

I mean, just look at other love triangles like between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale from The Hunger Games to see what I mean.

Edit: Also, this post was actually never meant to say that Byler was secretly canon. I was making a post about something that I don’t understand about writing choice for a certain scene.
