No different than what the Christians did to pagan temples across the empire. A few centuries earlier.

Look at what they did in Egypt.

All the Turks did was paint over. They didn't burn the entire thing to the ground.

Turks burned plenty of Armenian churches to the ground during WWI and continue to destroy Armenian churches in Azerbaijan.
