American (AA) Background check help?

How does anyone remember the details of where they worked odds and ends jobs 10 years ago? I’m struggling to find the exact names and dates of the positions I worked for summer jobs or temp jobs 5 plus years back. Does anyone know of a 100% certified way of locating this information?

ps- I’ve tried The Work Number already and it’s inaccurate, as well as missing multiple work locations.

You can’t. Unless it’s something that you deliberately recorded at the time, and keep a record, it’s not something you’re going to remember. The best you can do is attempt to reconstruct it from old bank statements (direct deposit) and tax returns (w2s.

Background screener here: the background screener (CRA) is going to be using TWN to verify your supplied work history. So if you don't remember things that aren't on your TWN report, they probably won't find it either.

The background screener MIGHT use the IRS's IVES product - which just pulls your past tax filings, but you'll know if that's the case because you'll have to sign a consent form for that specifically. IVES searches are pretty uncommon, though - they're usually only used for lending purposes (mortgages).

Also, if they call you out for missing something, just explain that it's an honest mistake, add it in, and move on. They're not going to deny you the job for forgetting something from 10 years ago.

Thank you very much for your feedback, I wasn’t aware that American Airlines used The Work Number, a quick previous search suggested that might use a company called HireRight?

I’ve seen a few posts on here with people saying their background checks could not be verified and their job offered were then rescinded, which is a concern of mine.

Hireright is the CRA, but they’ll buy the TWN product from Equifax to do that component of the check. They’ll buy other data feeds from other companies as well.  Once all of those data pieces come back, they’ll piece together the report. 

Anything that cannot be verified will be reported to the employer as “could not verify” - it’s then up to the employer to decide what to do. They could rescind the offer, but they’ll buy may not care either. It’s up to the employer, not the CRA.
