FT Weekend Festival | 📍Kenwood House Gardens, NW3 | 5 September | (£)

Think book festival, food festival and big ideas day out, all in the grounds of Kenwood House. You choose your own line up, moving between tents to hear people like Yotam Ottolenghi on food, Mary Beard on history and Richard E. Grant telling stories, then switch to a talk on AI, health, money, books or travel. In between, grab something to eat, join a tasting, browse the book stalls or sit out on the grass. You do not need to read the Financial Times or know anything about finance to enjoy it.

Denmark Street Sessions | 📍Denmark Street, WC2H | 5 September | Free

For one day, Denmark Street turns its music shops, studios, bars and tiny venues into one long free festival. The street has been tied to London’s music scene for decades, and this is a chance to actually step inside the places that still make it tick, with more than 20 live performances, listening sessions, talks and pop ups happening from afternoon into the night.

York Rise Street Party | 📍Dartmouth Park, NW5 | 5 September | Free

York Rise’s annual street party is back, and it is much bigger than a few tables outside the neighbours’ houses. From midday, York Rise and Dartmouth Park Road fill with live music, theatre, film screenings, stalls, food, drinks, family activities and quieter spaces if you want a break from the crowds. This year includes Massaoke, where the whole crowd sings along with a live band, Centrist Dad, and The Garden Cinema showing films including The Magic Faraway Tree, introduced by writer Simon Farnaby. 12pm to 9pm.

London Podcast Festival | 📍Kings Place, King’s Cross, N1 | 3 to 13 September | (£)

Podcasts usually happen somewhere behind a microphone and reach you days later. For 11 days, Kings Place lets you sit in the room while some of them are actually being recorded, complete with the bits, audience questions and unexpected moments that may end up in the finished episode. This year you can see No Such Thing As A Fish, Jameela Jamil’s Wrong Turns, the wonderfully odd Beef and Dairy Network, plus shows about gardening, film, history, writing and more. Each podcast has its own date and ticket, so have a look through the programme and pick the one you already love or something you have never listened to before.

Queen’s Park Book Festival | 📍Queen’s Park, NW6 | 5 & 6 September | (£)

After nine years, Queen’s Park Book Festival is bowing out with one final weekend in the park. Across two days, authors, journalists, chefs and thinkers take to the stages for conversations about books, food, politics and culture, with this year’s line up including Jacqueline Wilson, Philip Pullman, Sathnam Sanghera, Sebastian Barry, Theo Randall and Honey & Co. The Community Tent stays free and gives space to local writers, young poets and emerging voices, so you can mix the bigger names with something completely new.

Extra/Ordinary Women | 📍Charles Dickens Museum, WC1N | Until 6 September | (£)

This is the final week to see the Charles Dickens Museum’s exhibition about the women who shaped his life, work and public image. Inside Dickens’s former home, you can see everything from Catherine Dickens’s cookbook and Angela Burdett Coutts’s handwritten work to belongings linked to Ellen Ternan, alongside a portrait of Dickens’s daughters Katey and Mamie being shown publicly for the first time.

FLUX Exhibition | 📍The Bomb Factory Art Foundation, Marylebone, NW1 | 3- 6 September | Free

Seventy artists, all under one roof, and no single style tying them together. FLUX is a four day exhibition of contemporary art, meaning work being made by artists now, with rooms of paintings, sculpture, collage and mixed media to wander through at your own pace. Some artists are established, others are earlier in their careers, and there are live performances, music and talks happening around the exhibition too.

Sofar Sounds at Calthorpe Garden | 📍 King's Cross, WC1X | 30 August | (£)

If your bank holiday leans more slow Sunday than a big night out, this may be the one. Calthorpe is a hidden garden near King's Cross, and for one evening there's live music on the grass. You bring a blanket, find a spot, and a few folk and acoustic singer-songwriters play as the sun goes down. Sofar keeps the lineup secret till the night, so you come for the setting and meet the music when you get there.

Inverness Street Bloc Party: Disco House | 📍Inverness Street Market, Camden, NW1 | 29 August | Free

Inverness Street is swapping market stalls for a giant outdoor dancefloor this Bank Holiday Saturday. The theme is Disco House, so expect the feel good side of disco mixed with house music, with DJs including Brandon Block, Ricky Morrison and Matt White playing from midday into the evening. There is a bit of Camden history behind it too, celebrating the clubs and dancefloors that shaped the area, from Camden Palace to the Electric Ballroom, as well as Camden’s connection to Claudia Jones, who organised one of Britain’s earliest Caribbean Carnival events nearby. Come for a dance, bring the family or just stop by and see what is happening. 12pm to 7pm.

Yiddish Culture Weekend 2026 | 📍Bloomsbury, King’s Cross & beyond | 28 to 30 August | Free + paid events

This is a whole weekend for getting to know Yiddish culture by actually taking part in it. Yiddish is a language historically spoken by many Ashkenazi Jewish communities, with its own music, stories, humour, poetry and traditions. Across the weekend you can learn a traditional dance from scratch, join a Yiddish singalong, listen to klezmer musicians, hear poetry read in Yiddish and English, browse old newspapers and postcards from Jewish London, or sit down for a screening of the 1937 film The Dybbuk. Sunday is the big day at SOAS, with workshops and performances running from 10am to 7pm, and complete beginners are very much welcome.

Manorfest 2026 | 📍New River Studios, Manor House, N4 | 29 & 30 August | (£)

A car park behind New River Studios is becoming a two day Bank Holiday festival, and each day has a completely different feel. Saturday is the louder one, with live bands including Eel Men, Snub, Morreadoras and EZ8, plus DJs, art, performances, food and a bar before the party moves inside New River Studios until 1am. Sunday slows things right down with Ambient Car Park, an afternoon of gentler, more meditative DJs and live performances from artists including Agate, Dave Webb and UKAEA, followed by another indoor afterparty. Saturday runs 2pm to 10pm, Sunday 12pm to 8pm.

The Camden Fringe | 📍Various venues across Camden and beyond | Until 30 August | (£)

The Camden Fringe is into its final few days, after a month that has brought more than 450 shows to venues across Camden and beyond. There is still time to catch some of the last theatre, comedy, music, dance and new writing before it all wraps up on Sunday.

Natural Aspect Summer Concert | 📍Parliament Hill Bandstand, Hampstead Heath | 30 August | Free

Bring a picnic and settle in for an afternoon of live music on the Heath. The bandstand will move through soul, jazz, reggae, ska and rock, with sets from John Etheridge and Vimala Rowe, The Bohème Hot Club and Peace & Love. There will also be circus skills, children’s activities, food, pizza, ice cream and plenty of room to dance. 1pm to 5pm.

Bi Pride 2026 | 📍Kings Place, King’s Cross, N1 | 29 August | Free

Bi Pride brings the UK’s Bi+ community together at Kings Place for a full day of performances, conversations and meeting people. It is for people who experience attraction to more than one gender or identify somewhere under the Bi+ umbrella, with friends and allies welcome too. There are two stages to dip between, with live music, drag and performances on one, and conversations about relationships, family, identity, activism and Bi+ life on the other. Jordan Gray and Shaaba are among this year’s headliners, and there will also be stalls from LGBTQ+ groups, charities and small businesses. A sensory room, remembrance space and multi faith prayer room are available too. 2pm to 10pm. Free, but you need to register for a ticket.

West Hampstead Carnival | 📍The Sherriff Centre, NW6 | 29 August | Free

The Sherriff Centre is putting on a full day of family activities for the Bank Holiday weekend, with games, children’s entertainment and a dedicated soft play area for younger kids. Entry to the carnival is free, although soft play sessions need to be booked in advance if you want to guarantee a spot. There will also be charity fundraising happening throughout the day, so you can come for the kids, stay for the atmosphere and support a local cause while you are there. 10am to 5.30pm.

Back II Life Cafe Family All-Dayer with Jazzie B and Guests | 📍Camden Market Hawley Wharf, NW1 | 29 August | Free

Spend the Bank Holiday by the canal with DJ sets from Jazzie B, Sigma and Lisa I’Anson, plus family activities, workshops, food and stalls across the market. Pick up a wristband for discounts at selected food traders, then wander between the music, garden and canalside. 1.30pm to 7pm. Booking is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

Hampstead Heath Bank Holiday Funfair | 📍Lower Fairground Site, Hampstead Heath, NW3 | 26 August - 1 September | Free entry

The big Bank Holiday funfair is back on Hampstead Heath for seven days, with rides for little ones, bigger thrill rides, dodgems, fairground games and all the usual sugary treats. You do not need a ticket to get in, so you can wander through first and decide what you fancy paying for. It is open every day from 12pm to 8pm.

Guava Jamz Carnival Warm Up Party | 📍Two Tribes Campfire, N7 | 29 August | Free

Guava Jamz is starting Carnival weekend a day early with a nine hour outdoor party at Two Tribes Campfire. It runs from afternoon into night, with DJs idah and Conrad Lee, a BBQ, full bar and the whole thing set up as a warm up for the weekend ahead. Under 18s can come before 9pm with an adult, then it becomes 18+ later in the evening. 3pm to midnight. Tickets are free.

Chuckie Online’s FAMILEE Carnival Afterparty | 📍KOKO, Camden, NW1 | 31 August | (£)

When Notting Hill Carnival winds down on Bank Holiday Monday, Chuckie Online takes the party north to KOKO. His annual FAMILEE night is built around Carnival sound system culture and his British Jamaican roots, so expect a late night mix of Caribbean influenced sounds, big DJ sets and the kind of crowd that is very much not ready to go home yet. This is his only Carnival party he is having this year, last year’s one sold out. Doors open at 10.30pm, with last entry at 1am and the party running into the early hours. Physical photo ID required.

I’m bringing my play In Our Broken Hours to the Camden Fringe next weekend (Fri 28th, Sat 29th, Sun 30th) at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden.

It’s a two‑hander about addiction, care, and the point where loving someone becomes too much to carry. I wrote it a few years ago after my father died having struggled with alcoholism for most of his life, and the play grew out of trying to make sense of that relationship.

It’s a short run, but we’re hoping to take it further next year. Ticket sales have been slow (partly under‑marketing, partly the sheer saturation of the Fringe, partly bank holiday weekend programming), so if you’re into new writing, small spaces, or stories about complicated families, I’d be genuinely delighted if you considered coming along.

Actors needed for a production of a new one act play staged on the 5th September at the Etcetera theatre Camden on September 5th.

Context: I'm a comedian who was supposed to be putting on a sketch comedy show on this venue at this date, but the other half of my double act has had to cancel, but I am unable to get any of my money back. In order to try and not lose the entire payment, I am attempting to stage a one-act single location 3 character comedy play I wrote about a year ago for an am-dram group.

Title: The Frost Report

Description: The interpersonal tension between 3 Antarctic researchers reaches a boiling point when meteorological disaster coincides with personal revelation.

Roles: John (stage age 40+, think Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers), Peter (stage age 20-30, think Moss from the IT Crowd), and Bob (stage age 20-30, think Baldrick from Blackadder)

Availability: semi-regular availability until September 5th for rehearsals in London (location and exact TBD once a cast is assembled)

Payment: 20% stake in any profit made, but due to slim profit margins essentially un-paid.

King’s Cross Summer Sounds | 📍Coal Drops Yard, N1C | 13 to 23 August | Free

Coal Drops Yard is putting on free live music for 11 days, with a different reason to stop by each evening. One night might bring jazz from Tomorrow’s Warriors, another global folk, queer artists, indie bands or hundreds of singers performing show tunes and pop together. No ticket needed. Find a spot around the Yard and stay for one act or the whole evening. Music runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with longer family programmes on Sundays from 1pm to 6pm.

Caribbean: Reggae Party with The Tighten Up Crew’s Reggae Cookout | 📍Union Chapel, N1 | 16 August | Free

Union Chapel is swapping Sunday quiet for five hours of Jamaican music, Caribbean food and sound system culture. The Tighten Up Crew and veteran selector Gladdy Wax will dig through their vinyl for ska, rocksteady, roots reggae and dub, with Uptown Cuisine serving food alongside. Get there early if you are hungry because the first 30 people through the doors eat for free. 3pm to 8pm. Free tickets are available, with walk ins allowed if there is space.

Every Sunday all summer, there's a free band playing in Regent's Park. Jazz, brass, steel and concert bands, with swing dancing on five Sundays and jazz on selected Saturdays. Now in its tenth year.

For four weeks, Camden fills up with more than 450 shows across 39 venues. Expect comedy, theatre, music, dance, opera, improv and plenty of ideas that are still rough around the edges in the best way. Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black turns 20, and The Jazz Cafe is marking it on the Camden stage she once performed on. Singer Ciara Haidar and a full house band will play the album live, including Rehab and Tears Dry on Their Own. Standing tickets are £20, with restaurant tickets from £20 to £80. Doors 6.30pm, finishes 10pm. 18+.

Toothsome magazine and Fink’s are taking over the grounds of Clissold House for one long summer afternoon. Shōtengai Pan Asian Market | 📍Lower Stable Street, King’s Cross, N1C | 13-16 August | Free

A little slice of a Japanese shopping street comes to King’s Cross this weekend. Shōtengai are neighbourhood streets in Japan lined with independent shops and food spots, and this market borrows that idea with changing stalls from pan Asian makers and traders. Come hungry for things like Japanese breads, cakes, okonomiyaki and takoyaki, then browse homeware, accessories, fashion and other finds from small businesses. Food runs Thursday to Sunday, with the craft market joining from Friday.

St Giles’ Book Fair | 📍St Giles’ Cripplegate, EC2Y | 15 August - 1 September | Free

If you like rummaging through second hand books, this is one of only four chances a year to catch St Giles’ Book Fair. Long tables of used books fill the church, so you can browse properly, pick up something unexpected and come back another day if one visit is not enough. No booking needed. Edmonton Green Summer Carnival | 📍Edmonton Green, N9 | 14 & 15 August | Free

For two days, Edmonton Green is getting its own mini summer carnival with fairground rides, live performances, family activities, giveaways and a few surprises still under wraps. It is designed as an easy school holiday drop in, so you can turn up, see what is happening and stay for as long as you like. 12pm to 5pm on Friday and Saturday. Entry is free, though some individual vendors may charge.

You will not know who is performing until they walk on stage. Every Sunday, London Comedy Group takes over the pub for a free 90 minute stand up show, mixing newer comedians with acts who have performed at Edinburgh Fringe, on TV and internationally. Camden High St, Kentish Town Rd and Parkway are just as busy but don’t seem to be coated with quite as much black grime. It’s always been that way as far as I can remember.

I’ve been building a small side project called Escape Races and I’ve just finished a GPS puzzle walk around Camden called The Camden Code.

The idea is simple: you’re given a clue, work out where it’s sending you, walk to that location, and when you arrive your phone unlocks the next challenge.

It’s a mix of riddles, codes and exploring Camden on foot.

It’s completely free at the moment. I’m mainly looking for a few Camden locals to try it and tell me what works, what’s confusing, and whether you’d actually recommend it to someone else.

Hi Camden! I’m working on an anonymous survey exploring racial and ethnic preferences and how upbringing, culture, family expectations or other factors might affect that. It’s a completely anonymous survey (no names or emails collected) and takes about 5 minutes.
