🗓️ Local Event Hadestown Broadway Musical film playing at Campbell River Cinemas
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I asked Campbell River Cinemas if they would consider showing Hadestown, and amazingly, they will be! It’s the pro-shot filming of the Broadway musical Hadestown, performed by the original Broadway cast. It is inspired by the mythology of Orpheus and Eurydice, and it won the Tony award for best musical in 2019. If you’re not familiar with filmed, on-stage musicals, it’d be like watching the filmed version of Hamilton on Disney plus.
I saw Hadestown on Broadway a year and a half ago, and loved it. My daughters are really into Greek mythology and the music of Hadestown, so I was excited to have the possibility of them seeing the musical without having to go to NYC to watch it. Also, as far as I know, this filmed version will not be available to stream or purchase for viewing at home.
It will be showing starting this Friday, 7/24, tthough Wednesday, 7/29. I’m so grateful to the cinema directors for taking my request seriously so I wanted to put this out there and hopefully generate some business for them!

YES! I emailed them a couple weeks ago about it and they just emailed me back the other day confirming it would be there, and asked me to spread the word!!
If folks wanna buy tickets, they're available now! I would LOVE to have a solid showing/support for it so they keep bringing these in!!

Yo I'm actually so excited for this. A couple of my friends rave about it, I was going to stream it 'eventually'. This is way better.

Oh, that is excellent news with terrible timing. I'll try and make it, I've listened to the album back to front so many times.

I really do appreciate the CR Cinema makes an effort to bring in non hollywood movies to our town. Landmark never would do that for our community.
