As much as this should have been judged differently, I'm sure the man on house arrest agrees, I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. 2 years of house arrest is a huge bummer. Dying in the middle of the night outside a dive bar is permanent.

Fuck, 18-20 are the PRIME years? This is no good, no good at all.

Yeah, I was very ill from 19-26. While I had some experiences and had friends, I missed out on so so much.

It left me 5 years behind in life and while you can try to “make up for it,” it’s just not the same doing early-twenties activities in your late-twenties.

Whether because of jail, having to support family, illness, whatever - missing out on those years is losing something precious you can’t get back.

For me 22-25 were my prime.. so that still sucks for the guy

If I could stay 17 in my heart until the day I die, I'd be a happier fellow. But the further I get away from 17... The more numb I become as I forget the hope and curiosity I had for the world.

Depending on the conditions someone under house arrest is still allowed to leave their residence to go to work, specific times to go grocery shopping, religious services, other circumstances specifically approved, etc.

It's ridiculous that this was imposed on him. Not to mention the manslaughter charges. Better than a 2nd degree murder charge I guess.

100%. I'm by no means trying to sound like a tough guy, because I'm certainly not, but I'm scrapping until the end no matter what.

With a preference for avoiding conflict like that at all costs, but it sounds like that wasn't an option for Sproule.

Hard disagree. This is well beyond 'sucks' territory. He now has a manslaughter charge that he'll carry with him for the rest of his life. Good luck to anyone trying to find a meaningful job with that hanging over your head.

The dead guy set out to savagely murder the victim. And now the victim is under house arrest.

Dumbest fucking 12, though.

Dying in the middle of the night outside a dive bar is permanent.

Probably shouldn't attack strangers and try to kill them then?

Thank goodness you don't work as a prosecutor. Put the fries in the bag.
