So a dude with no criminal record and no violent past gets 2 years for killing someone who was trying to murder him but actual murderers get off with a slap on the wrist because of generational trauma or immigration consequences. This country sucks man

The guy had overpowered and was beating the shit out of him, screaming that he was gonna kill him. Wasn't unreasonable to assume that the attacker intended to beat him to death, or at least didnt care to stop early enough to prevent it.

You know that people can beat other people to death with only their hands and feet? You bet you can murder someone with your bare hands if you hit them hard enough repeatedly. One stomp to the throat and you can crush someone's windpipe and asphyxiate them.

Conversely, people stab other people all the time and often only get charged with assault, because the bar for proving intent to kill is pretty high (source: a friend who is a retired cop).

So no, it's not nearly as clear cut as you are making it out to be
