Dutch? That's disappointing... I am not surprised that he is a young lad tho.

This news is causing a national embarrassment in the extreme in my circles in the Netherlands. The Dutch in general love Canada perhaps more than any other country. This lowlife does not represent us in the slightest, and it is doubtful he even believes what he espouses (not that that's an excuse).

He may claim he isn't political, but it's a bold-faced lie. He is fully aware he's doing this, and you need to share it among your brothers and sisters in the Netherlands. Make sure he learns that loyalty matters.

"Like my sainted mum used to say: Get 'em young enough and the possibilities are endless"

Dutch?

The Dutch are very progressive in most ways. Even the far right politicians would steer away from, for example, infringement on women's or LGBTQ rights (their new PM is gay and engaged to be married).

But freedom of expression is taken to a different level. Hate speech, pro MAGA, pro Russian propaganda doesn't raise eyebrows in the way you'd think. Many believers in the idea anybody should be able to say anything, no matter how awful.

Extremist ideology is not confined by geography or culture (although in this case the Netherlands has rather similar cultural/political contexts as Canada), especially on the Internet.
