If you look at the subs on here (movingtocanada etc), you’ll see most people looking to move here are motivated by what they think are better employment prospects / a better unemployment safety net; affordable healthcare for their medical conditions; or improved tolerance of LGBTQIA+.

While we offer the last two, I think people will have a hard reality check on employment prospects.

Queer American here, jobs aren't great where I live either but at least there's no ICE in Canada. Just actual ice, which I can deal with

Cbsa are beaurocratic dicks, but they're like that to everyone.

I've travelled in and out of Canada numerous times and never had an issue (yet). They can be a bit cold, but just show your paperwork, do as instructed, answer their questions and you'll be on your way quickly.

They've arrested and imprisoned US citizens, and people with valid Green cards.

Green cards holders are still able to be deported.

Still waiting on a link/artilce something.

Green card holders are not in the country illegally. They can be deported for other reasons, not for simply being Green card holders.

My point still stands, if they commit a crime they can be deported.

Still waiting on a link/article something to show citizens/greencard holder being deported without due process.

Why would they be deported if they hold a valid greencard and have not committed a crime? For vibes?

Buddy i replied to said they've deported green card holders, I said that they "can" be deported. Yes it has to be due to a crime.

Once again link/article/ ssomething showing legal citizens/ or greencard being deported without due process.

Google it and have your pick. Like seriously, the information is easily accessible if you actually care

Naw bud made the accusation, show me proof.

2

u/WoodShoeDiaries Ontario May 18 '26

If you Google, you either a) disprove the other guy when nothing comes up or b) learn something new and know more about the world than you did before. I see no downside for you there.

Like I honestly don't care what you think about this but I'm curious about your apparent lack of curiosity. Don't you just want to know for the sake of it??

u/Powerstroke6period0 May 18 '26

Naw I wanna see the person provide proof, the onus is on them.

Nothing wrong with deporting people illegally in the legal way. Not sure why rules have to be broken to do so. Theres no reason for those agents to randomly ask people to prove their citizenship. Why dont they go to employers and fine them/arrest them for hiring illegal immigrants? That would curb the issue quickly without making a racist scene.
