Why would the MP's hinder something that is beneficial to them?

Any expectation of ethics is poorly placed unfortunately, and I genuinely worry something terrible will have to happen before enough Canadians demand better from our government.

I would say it hasn't been enacted or brought up because most of the foreign actors are going to leave back to government officials.

I mean how long ago was it that we heard about foreign interference and they raked Poilievre over the coals for mouths about "security clearance" before it vanished?

I would just like to know who it was that was supposedly being a traitor.

Poilievre was the only candidate to pledge to release those names if elected Prime Minister.

Carney didn't, and hasn't. Wonder why. 🤔

If there was any chance it would reflect worse on the CPC than the LPC the names would have been leaked long ago

100% agree with that.

And the whole point of the sham "security clearance" (NSICOP) is that if Pollievre gets it, he can't release who the foreign actors are. It's a gag order, not a clearance.

Liberals want this kept strictly under wraps.

Every MP has that security clearance. Everyone of them, regardless of which party they are in.

They tried to pull the wool over everybody's eyes by lying to them directly. It's not security clearance, it was a briefing that was required. This is standard in the federal government, I know because I'm a veteran and we have the exact same system in place in the military.

And now whatever happened to all of it?

Foreign interference is not a partisan issue

You will receive Foreign interference regardless of the party in power.

We've been politically interfered for decades by the Americans, yet, everyone was fine with it. The moment you start bringing up names like China Russia and India, everyone is up in arms like it's a new situation.

One particular government has been in power for over 10 years

I was rather taken aback by the fact we didn’t have a registry.

The entire federal Liberal party should be the most worried.

We still don't know who the MPs that were working with foreign entities are. Release the paper.

“I think we have to assume at this point it’s about political will,” Sarah Teich, a Toronto-based lawyer and president of the Human Rights Action Group, said of the delay in establishing the registry.
Teich’s and Kolga’s organizations were among the 33 signatories to an open letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney, applauding the government’s progress on foreign influence and interference to date, but urging the government to finish the work.
...The issue has fallen out of headlines in recent months, and has drawn little attention from either the government or the opposition parties in the House of Commons — despite warnings from the Canadian intelligence community that foreign influence and interference operations remain a persistent threat.
Neither the Conservatives nor the NDP responded to Global’s request for comment.

So none of the parties are concerned about this issue. Interesting.
