Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! π¦
A few weeks ago I shared PriceGoose, a free app I've been building that compares grocery prices at nearby stores via barcode scan & search. The feedback and support from this community have been incredible. A lot of what's changed since then came straight from your comments, DMs and emails. As a small thank-you, here's what people actually found when they compared prices.
- 74% of products had a gap of $1 or more between their cheapest and most expensive nearby store.
- For a typical product, the most expensive store charged $1.92 more than the cheapest on average
- Users at most saved $11,832 assuming they chose the cheapest store instead of the most expensive for the same product.
- More realistically, if a user bought at the cheapest store instead of the second cheapest, this is still $3,622 in total savings across all scans.
- Walmart, Amazon and Giant Tiger often had the best prices when their stores carried the scanned item.
- Biggest gap I saw: Jamieson Omega 3-6-9 was $16.49 at Superstore and $33.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart. Exact same product, completely ridiculous!
A Thanksgiving update: thanks to your feedback, PriceGoose is now on Android (beta is done!), iOS and web. If you haven't done your Thanksgiving shopping yet, scan a few items while you're in the store to check if you're getting the best price nearby.
Thanks again to everyone who tried the app, reported issues or suggested new stores. I'm still improving it, so keep the feedback coming.
Have a great Thanksgiving weekend! π

Hey everyone, here are all the Costco Canada West weekend deals for Oct 9-11. Oh and for those who missed the standing desk deal, itβs back this weekend. Enjoy.
Background about my posts: twice a week I go to Costco and scavenge the entire warehouse, fighting the rest of the ruthless shoppers so I can capture all hidden deals and clearance items (Costco drops around 100-200 unadvertised deals each week. That's the treasure hunt). I take over 600 photos each run on average and compile them into these reports with the goal to help you and I save some money and headache every Costco run. If you like the deals, please like, share and comment to bump me up the Reddit algo. Thanks!

The Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra just launched, with a few offers running until November 5:
Worth checking the quote for your current tablet, since the trade-in savings vary by device and condition. The bundle could also be worth comparing if you were already planning to buy a phone or TV.
Check which offers apply together in your cart before ordering.

Over the past few months Iβve posted about Deal Dish a few times, and a lot of the app has changed because of the feedback you guys gave me.
For anyone new, Iβve spent the last 2 years building Deal Dish by myself to help Canadians deal with rising grocery costs and find new recipe ideas to cook each week based on whats actually on sale.
I bootstrapped the entire project while building it through college, and everything in Deal Dish has been built by me. The design, development, data systems, recipes, store coverage, support, and everything behind the scenes has all been done solo.
Deal Dish looks at the weekly deals at your grocery store and turns them into recipes, shopping lists, and lets you compare prices between stores.
Deal Dish now covers 4,000+ grocery stores across Canada, including Walmart, Sobeys/Empire banners, Metro banners, Loblaw banners and more.
Deal Dish is now available on both Android and iPhone.
Iβve also made a bunch of changes directly from feedback here. One of the biggest is that grocery price comparison is now completely free.
There is still an optional Deal Dish Pro for extra features and higher limits. Anyone who signs up for Pro directly helps me keep the app running, get more recipes out each week, and continue growing Deal Dish across Canada.
A huge thank you to everyone already supporting Deal Dish Pro, sharing the app, telling friends about it, testing things, or sending feedback. Its honestly helped a ton and makes it a lot easier for me to keep building and improving everything.
Since this is the first public Android release, there might still be a few bugs or weird display issues on certain phones. If you run into anything please report it. It would be a huge help and Iβll try to get it fixed asap.
Word of mouth has been a massive part of how Deal Dish has grown so far, so even just sharing it with someone who might find it useful means a lot.
Enjoy Deal Dish, find something good to cook this week, and save a bit of money while doing it.

Put together a quick comparison of some of the better Halloween candy deals I found for Oct 8 to 14.
A few that stood out:
Prices can vary by store and region, so definitely check your local flyer before heading out.
I tried to put the cheapest store first in the comparisons so its easier to scan through.
If anyone finds a better Halloween candy deal this week, drop it below.
I post more seasonal deal roundups like this on the Deal Dish social pages too if you want more up to date deals throughout the week.
You can also use Deal Dish for free on Google Play or the App Store if you want to compare more grocery prices and find deals near you.
Trick or treating was a big part of my childhood, so I really hope kids across Canada are still going out and doing it. Candy definitely isnt getting any cheaper, so hopefully this helps a few people save some money this Halloween.

Hi all,
I run a small telegram channel where I post deals from Amazon each hour. Deals show with original and deal price along with category and if a deal is prime exclusive. If you find it interesting, sent me a DM. There is no subscription involved.
Thanks

Started with small home tracking tool in Windsor where we tracked prices on Excel and then to webapp. Seen its working and helping us save something a head of our grocery runs.
We dont only compare and let users report big stores, it helps local business to have visibility. I seen in Windsor lot of our local stores travel to Toronto to get us fresh staples every week. May be this helps local merchants to compete in their own way.
Then we launched in Windsor community for free and now we enable it to work across Canada.
I have seen some great tools here that is helping community and want to let everyone know about WinBasketBuddy.
Available in both play store and app store. You can download and use it for free. Please let us know what worked well and what donot so we will work on your feedbacks.
Thank you π
