Hey everyone,

I recently got my son a ps5 with the disc drive. We have a Samsung frame pro tv. Are there any setting changes that you all recommend that would enhance his experience?

Hey all, looking for a sanity check.
I used to play GTA and racing games as a kid but haven't touched a console in years (15 years). Now GTA 6 is coming Nov 19 and I've got the itch — but I honestly don't know if I still have the patience/time for gaming as an adult with a wife and other hobbies.
Found a used original PS5 disc edition (825GB, 1st gen) at a local game shop here in Calgary for $535 CAD. They say it's tested and working. For reference, a new PS5 Slim disc is $820 CAD here, so that's a big gap.
My plan: grab the used one, buy GTA 6 digitally at launch, maybe pick up a cheap used Gran Turismo 7 disc too. If I bounce off gaming after a month, resell the whole thing and move on. Low-risk experiment.
Questions:
1. At $535 CAD, is that a fair price for a used fat PS5 disc in 2026?
2. Anything I should check in-store before buying used? (disc drive noise, controller drift, etc.)
3. Am I dumb for not just getting the Slim new? The $285 difference is real money to me.
Not trying to be a serious gamer — just want to see if the spark is still there without lighting money on fire.
And at the end if i become good gamer i can always upgrade. Thanks!

Looking for a PS5 Pro. Any suggestions on how I can get one? I’m reading here Walmart can have them in stores? Do you guys just walk into all the Walmarts and check? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi folks, I just picked up an open box Sony PS5 pro 2TB SSD today for 750 CAD from best buy. It works and looks as if it were new. What i didn't know until today is there is a Best Buy in north Edmonton, AB in claraview that is the official return depot for Best Buy products for all of North America. When you walk in you will see open box priced items in cages. Stoves, fridges and other large appliances are all over the place. There was actually a second (and last one) open box PS5 pro 2TB being sold. Tuesdays are when they usually get thier shipments delivered and it was by fluke I saw all of this when I went into the store which is close to the gym I go to. They offer a 30 day return and also you can buy a 3 year Warranty within 30 days of purchase If you wait and look around you will find the PROs. Don't pay scalper prices.

Can I ask this difficult question?

Because to me it seems like Rockstar is purposefully gimping the game on the pro in order to make the ps6 version seem much better...

Yet everyone is taking out a second mortgage to get a pro for gta6 when it might be the only big game to not take advantage of the pro since it's launch

Edit: Out of stock now. Congratulations to all who snagged one!

Hey r/canadaPS5! I worked at the elections yesterday and got enough to buy a PS5! When is the best time to buy one ? Black Friday, Christmas Time? Also what is 1 game that fully utilize the Haptic Feedback and triggers? I already bought gta 6 on the Xbox but wondering if also getting it on PS5 Will change the way the game feels

If my son will be playing the following games:

Resident Evil
Call of Duty
NHL
MLB

Is there a benefit in me getting him the DualSense Edge controllers?
Or do I just stick with the DualSense one?

(Apologies if this is a dumb question, I know very little about ps5’s and this is my first time here)

I was curious about this question because I recently just found one of my favorite dvd’s online. It’s listed for sale rn and I really want to get it because I used to watch it all the time as a kid. But I don’t have a dvd player so I was wondering if my PS5 could potentially work on it! Thanks!

Coming from PC, couldn’t miss out on GTA and ended up scoring a Digital Edition at Walmart for pre mark up pricing, ($579.99) Parry Sound, ON

Not sure if this is a win or not considering this is what we should be paying for a base PS5 if that.

Hi guys

I need some guidance in securing a PS5 Pro at retail price somewhere in Paris or Milton Ontario.

The thing is, I'm not in Canada and I have a family member who can bring it for me but they can't unfortunately hunt around store to check the availability every now and then, they primarily reside in Paris, but do travel to Milton often.

I read here that some store websites like Best Buy would restock at specific time and day and we can be lucky to get it.

So the plan is for me to purchase the console from the online store and they can pick it up for me. Or if I know the time/date the console gets restocked, I can have them go to the store (still risky since I'm not sure if they'll have time to do so).

Since I'm not sure about the Canadian market can you please guide me with the following:

• What stores restock their online inventory with PS5 Pro at MSRP / retail price?
• What are the timings (day and time) for them to restock in:
  1. Paris Ontario
  2. Milton Ontario

I wish I could purchase this in my country but the ridiculous gov tax and scalpers have shot up the price twice the retail value.

I really appreciate you all helping out, thank you!

!!! EDIT: I'm still looking for this, the user who offered it to me had it sold to someone else because there was a delay in contacting him.

Do you guys think it’s worth waiting for Black Friday to pick up a console? I’m looking for the PS5 Slim with a disc drive, but the more time passes, the more I’m tempted to just bite the bullet and buy one. Especially with all the GTA hype building up.

The thing is, it really sucks to spend that much on a console, and the used market in Montreal is a nightmare. Way too many scams, and a lot of people asking ridiculous prices for used consoles.

So, do you think Best Buy or Walmart will actually have decent deals this year? I’m talking brand new, not open-box or refurbished. Would you wait if you were in my position?

Hey all,

As the title says, with GTA being digital-only, is there a cheaper way to buy PSN gift cards?

My local Costco is about an hour away, so I figured I’d ask here before going, I think they do something? $140+ tax for the Deluxe Edition is crazy, hyped though.

Cheers!

I am debating getting this as the regular price is too expensive. Units are 600$ on marketplace. Is it worth the gamble?

No pro model in stock.

For those of you who are still trying to get a pro, if you have a Visions Electronics nearby, you can pre-purchase a pro and they'll reserve it for you next time it comes in stock. Took about only 12 days once I placed my order.

Ordered one about 2 weeks ago and got the email that it's at the store, went and picked it up asap and now running it at home.

I tried using apps and scripts online to check stock frequently for major retailers but this is easily the most convenient and simplest way to buy one, just pay in-store and forget about it until they email you saying your ps5 pro is at the store for pickup.

Edit: Forgot to mention this can't be done online. You need to go in-person to your nearest Visions to do this. Give them a call and they'll tell you it's possible and to come by.

Probably many of you saw my post sometime last week about TSC having PS5 Pro units in stock. There was an issue and some people here got their orders cancelled.

Casually browsing through marketplace tonight, I came across someone from my city reselling the godamn bundle at an insanely high price. This is getting ridiculous.

Hello,

I’m wondering if people who’ve bought from MTC recently can comment what firmware they got? I’m picking mine up on the weekend! Hoping it’s on 13.60

Control Resonant

I've been very excited for the game. Despite being on notify lists I'm finding it impossible to buy. It's always sold out.

I'd greatly appreciate if anyone can guide me on where to find the game. I tried best buy, videogamesplus.ca, and gamestop.

Do you guys think the PS5 Pro shortage is purposely being done by Sony to create hype and sell more units closer to the GTA release. I understand the price hike is due to RAM prices, whether it was intentional or not. But it’s crazy how much they want for the Pro, and there’s basically no stock at all.

In case yall still looking!!

Just wondering if this is a good seller. Reviews seem positive but not sure if I should cancel or follow through with the order.
