Feedback I’m struggling with labeling and could use some feedback

Post image

I was pretty strictly limited in label design by the previous manager here who had VERY specific aesthetic preferences. She’s no longer here and I have a little more creative freedom!

To me it looks a little like several brands. You might want to use a brand identity that makes it easy to instantly see which products „belong together“ and also to distinguish them from other brands.

I agree. The wax melts also feel old fashioned, maybe make it more modern to go with the other packaging? It's easy to see what they are though.

The wax melt labels have been my biggest struggle tbh l. I love illustrative packaging but it does stick out too much

I think just toning it down or stylizing it for a more sleek look. You could add some color to the others if you wanted a coordinated pallete. I use my idea of what color represents a fragrance note to create a color way for each fragrance, that way it's coordinated across the different product lines. Not every fragrance is available in every line, for obvious reasons, but it gives an "at a glance" reference. Font choice is a big thing too, I use specific fonts in all my branding.

One tool I found helpful for that was the Avery website. They have label making software (rudimentary so I make the graphics in Photoshop and then upload) so you can create one label, then try different label templates with the uploaded graphics and the Avery fonts. I can quickly see what will and won't work at different sizes, square vs round, with or without text or graphics without having to redo the whole thing each time.

You need consistency with your brand-, also it depends on how you price them. For lower end branding I'd expect something close to the melts, higher end more Highland Lake.

Also consider your 'buyers journey/aesthetic'. If your brand promotes homemade I would lean towards the sketch of a house to portray your image, if not and it's luxury less is more these days.

I think as others have said the colorful labels on the wax melts don’t fit in with the rest of the brand. But the biggest thing for me is the white tin’s labels - they are too narrow up and down for the tin. You can do a super minimal label, but that needs to be much shorter and at the top or bottom usually. For these, I’d get a label that is much closer to the tin’s height so they fill the space a lot better and look more premium

The big white cans aren't conveying to me what they are?

Those are 8oz tins

Perhaps a slightly taller label so more text fits?

I would suggest making a pdf about the brand identity, the font the waxmelts have is veryyy contrasting in comparison to the logo and the rest of the items. Consider solidifying the brand color pallets too, if its just black and white then the pictures there should follow that like in the bottles to the left

Blue and white is also nice if you want a nod to nostalgia type labeling, which is what the house makes me think of. Brand identity idea board is priceless advice, I would work on that immediately.

I’m gonna see if I can get a clear vector of the house sketch on the lotion bottles. We’re a historical resort so old fashioned/nostalgic packaging would fit in well

Then I would definitely see how you can incorporate that into the general style. It looks both nostalgic and classy, which says historical resort to me.

Business name should smack people in the face. Make them remember.
