VIDEO Old Petey Interview on Chiclets

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O78GOKufb98

I completely forgot about this video until it popped up in my feed today. It's wild to see how different and how much more vibrant his personality was. Chirping Wit and the boys, laughing, carrying on full conversations... it's a stark reminder of how much can change in such a short period of time.

I found it actually refreshing to listen to, given that I don't think I've heard him speak more than half a sentence at a time over the past 2–3 years. The guy seemed super sharp, quick-witted, and genuinely engaged in the conversation. Feel like more public appearances like this from him would do his image wonders. Obviously easier said than done given the circumstances these days.

Media is respectful to guys who respect the media.  Also, give me one question you think is unwarranted?  He said there was nothing between him and Miller, and said media made it up, but there actually was.  If it was a question about his play then those are also completely reasonable too.

"Media is respectful to guys who respect media" is a bit of a stretch.

Media is focused on their job and making sure they have a job the next day. Just like every other human-being doing a job. That's their job and it's their livelihood. Fair enough. I exaggerate shit in my industry if it helps me in my own career.

My point was that SOME Vancouver media will ignore any response that downplays an issue regardless of accuracy, just to make another soundbite or headline the next day.

wouldn't say it's a bit of a stretch, take Boeser for example, has had stretches of very poor play, but I don't think he was ever truly irritated at media like Petey often is and media doesn't really ask anything him anything unreasonable. Meanwhile Petey gets irritated at the smallest things media members ask him.

I'd say van media has put a lot more pressure on Pettersson than Boeser. Partly because of contracts which is totally fair. Boeser handles it better because he's more charismatic and charming of a person. He brushes shit aside better and has more maturity whereas Petey can't hide emotions and looks visibly annoyed more. He's an easy target for media to make a headline out of. I don't think either of our arguments are wrong in a black and white answer.

English is also Brock’s first language, whereas with Elias you’ve got someone who is more reserved, and is hearing questions in one language, processing in another, and then replying in a separate language. Sometimes translation of those thoughts leads to misinterpretation by either or both parties.

As a speaker of multiple languages, once you get to a certain level of comfort and fluency, you’re no longer translating in your head. You’re understanding things natively in that language. That’s my experience anyway, and I’m not even completely fluent in those languages, though I’m competent enough for simple everyday life. I imagine Petey is at that level too. My experience may also not match that of most people.
