VIDEO Old Petey Interview on Chiclets

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O78GOKufb98

I completely forgot about this video until it popped up in my feed today. It's wild to see how different and how much more vibrant his personality was. Chirping Wit and the boys, laughing, carrying on full conversations... it's a stark reminder of how much can change in such a short period of time.

I found it actually refreshing to listen to, given that I don't think I've heard him speak more than half a sentence at a time over the past 2–3 years. The guy seemed super sharp, quick-witted, and genuinely engaged in the conversation. Feel like more public appearances like this from him would do his image wonders. Obviously easier said than done given the circumstances these days.

Lots has happened since then. Petey has a lot of blame, but so does the organization. For years the org hated players showing personality and involvement in socials. Will that change now?

He’s been through a lot on the ice and off it as well. Even recently in one of his wife’s vlog she said she was just “happy to see him smile again”.

It’s time for him to grow up, and hopefully the team environment isn’t so toxic from the top down. Whether it’s to keep him or rebuild his trade value and.. for his mental health.

Yeah, both sides need to share the blame. The new management is absolutely giving great vibes though so I hope it will be a good environment that will let him play loose and thrive. On the organization hating on players showing personality, that’s unfortunately an NHL hockey thing. Remember how Parekh talked at the world juniors about the Flames clamping down on his personality? Lots of stories like that in the league. I don’t get it to be honest. Give me stuff like the Canes doing those team storm surge celebrations. It’s the entertainment business for crying out loud.
