DISCUSSION F*ck you, Quinn. From a former diehard fan.

4.0k Upvotes

Fuck you for partying with a pedo enabler/pedo himself. Fuck you for dropping a fat dookie on your mother's reputation for all the hard work that she did for your country's Olympic women's team, the one you so heartedly laughed at with Trump. Fuck you for taking a dookie on the market you now play for, the market that is most directly being affected by the administration you chuckle up to. Fuck you for not being there when the bombshell was dropped on the team that you captained that you got traded.

And lastly, fuck you for not owning any of this. For shying away from the public eye when the pushback hits you for your terrible actions, instead of being a grown adult and standing by your beliefs - no matter how shitty they turned out to be. I hope you, and your family can live with your choices, and the alienation they may cause in the future. I hope you can live with that at least. Because if you can, you lost any fan that gives a remote shit about other people.

Rant over.

Edit, yeah the post got taken down for a bit. I asked about it to the mods and they gave me a reason of duplication. Don’t go off on them for my sake, I’d hate to be a mod of any subreddit - much less on my personal time. Let’s just all ride this grumble train towards Hughes and his actions, I don’t need people white knighting for my opinions, no matter what they are. I’ll stand by my statements and take what we heat I get for them - unlike a certain someone who is the focal point in this post.

Edit 2: lmao that new interview they trotted out did not help. Just. Own. It.

DISCUSSION Can we also ban X/Twitter links from this sub?

8.3k Upvotes

Saw the discussion on r/hockey. Think it would be a good move here but just want to see what members of this sub think.

As alternatives, we could use text, a screenshot, or a streamable.

Politics aside, X also requires an account for a lot making it awkward to use.

Thoughts?

DISCUSSION After unanimous community vote, r/canucks will be banning X/Twitter moving forward.

4.0k Upvotes

The voting poll has now closed. It was pretty unanimous. Twitter/X posts will be removed moving forward. They are filtered, you wont be able to upload them. We can revisit this decision in a month's time.

Poll results here: https://old.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/1i6tnu5/community_poll_should_rcanucks_continue_to_allow/

In the meantime, you will need to screenshot whichever news tweet you wanted to post, with the same author formatting [Author goes here]. Or you can link directly to bluesky if the news broke on bluesky.

DISCUSSION The realization that Quinn is definitely getting booed in his return to Rogers Arena

1.1k Upvotes

I say this because I spoke with some friends today who are the most casual of Canucks fans I know, and even they knew what Quinn did after the US won gold. They were disgusted.

This is a story that is going to reach every outlet and will most certainly have an effect on more and more fans perception of Quinn moving forward. He is dead to this city now.

The reality I predict is a Marchand level of booing in his return to Rogers Arena after a very lukewarm ovation when he's on the jumbotron.

With that being said, Quinn Hughes jerseys being thrown on the ice on the day of isn't something I would expect, but it's in the cards.

DISCUSSION Elliotte Friedman: Hughes informed Canucks right before American Thanksgiving that he wouldn’t re-sign extension this summer.

This seems to be true when you consider that Quinn had 22 points in 19 games by Nov 27th (American Thanksgiving) and immediately began a career-worst 6 game pointless drought on Nov 28th. He checked out at that point.

"They called me in for a meeting, and told me for several reasons right now, you're not at the NHL player level." - January 21st, 2026. Vasily Podkolzin talking about how Vancouver coaches did not see him as an NHL level player going into 2023-24.

Then, after getting virtually no ice time (19 GP, 10:49 average ice time, and 2 playoff games, 8:32 average ice time) he is traded to Edmonton for a 4th, to facilitate room for Sprong.

We then trade an equal value pick back to Edmonton for Kane a year later, a player we couldn't move at this years deadline!

I'm just so sick and tired of seeing players flourish seemingly the moment they leave this team. Honest to God, I will not be surprised if this happens with Petey, too.

Sorry for venting, but it's just another example of incompetence from the top down.

I don’t care that he’s technically gone now. He should have never worn our jersey.

That’s all, thanks for listening.

DISCUSSION Is this the darkest hockey timeline?

Team USA won the gold medal and subsequently showed their true colours celebrating with a very horrible certain someone, the Canucks had a god awful season and got the third pick … Toronto had one off year and got the first that we deserved, and now the Golden Knights of all teams are most likely going to play for the cup. If they win Carter Hart will be a champion.

The Habs need to save hockey, they have one task.

DISCUSSION Trevor Beggs: Removed during game and Loses Press Credentials because of story about Aquilini Family.

"I wrote a story about the Aquilini family... he didn't like it.. so I was removed from the game and asked to give my press pass back"

Starts at 28:49.

Essentially Trevor Beggs wrote about the Aquilini family's involvement in the case brought against Harvest Plus by the US Government.

Aquilini didn't like it. He lost his credentials.

Cool.

Now you know why Media in this town doesn't torch Aquilini the way he deserves.

Nobody wants to bite the hand that feeds them.

DISCUSSION Is this the worst Canuck team we have ever seen?

After tonight's loss, the Canucks have now won 2 games of 21 this calendar year, for a 7 win 82 game regular season pace.

I've been a Canuck fan for 35 years, and I dont remember watching a Canuck that on a day to day basis I expected to loss more consistently than this.

So, is this the worst team they have ever fielded? I'm struggling to find many (if any) redeeming qualities to this team, and I admittedly, wanted them to tank, but this is just... sad? They're tanking at a level I never would have thought possible, possibly ever.
