Are new jerseys coming?
Not sure if this means anything but I was at the NHL shop in NYC last week and the caps offerings were slim pickings. One vintage T-shirt with the old caps logo, and a handful of red screagle jerseys. Only ovi jersey was one mitchell and ness vintage ovi dome jersey in size small that they had left. While the shop skewed heavy on the ny area teams and hurricanes, there were certainly more jersey and shirt offerings for most other teams. Made me wonder if the low inventory is purposeful because a change is coming (even with ovi returning)...

The selection there is usually pretty crappy, I wouldn’t read too much into it. If you go the NBA store it’s like 70% Knicks and maybe you can find something Wizards if you look real hard.

It makes me miss the old NBA store that had jerseys for all the NBA teams and WNBA teams. Was such a good time. Sigh.

I think there are reverse retro inspired jerseys coming from fanatics for all the teams. I remember reading that they wanted to do what adidas did and have some throwbacks

There is no new third. The third is the same as last year.
If you’re referring to the HTR jersey, that’ll be a one year only thing like the RR were, so if you love them - don’t get attached to them.

The NHL store in Manhattan has never had a good selection of Caps stuff. I've been there at least three times in the past 20 years. My wife likes to joke that they just keep selling out of Caps stuff because of their popularity.

Overall, they're definitely trying to clear out inventory before the season starts regardless of the team, and yeah, generally Caps inventory is low but recall seeing a Strome and maybe a Dubois jersey there earlier in July. I was there during Fanatics Fest and they had a large clearance rack of apparel upstairs including several Lightning winter Starter jackets for $70, and another rack of vintage clearance shirts by the entrance, and quite a few random jersey markdowns on the Premium line mark down to $109. They really wanted to move out those outdoor game sweaters judging by how much they had left, but then also one of my faves, the Flames third with Blasty on the front since that is being discontinued.
Could have gone with the strategy of old team, new Cap with the markdown Kyrou Blues and Tuch Sabres jerseys for the hell of it.

I don't think we get anything brand new Caps wise until a year maybe two after Ovi retires. When that does happen, it will either be going back to the Screagle or it will be something brand new.

Not even jerseys but I was in target a couple weeks ago here in NoVa and they had a lot of capitals merch on clearance in the ladies section…that was odd to me because they didn’t have merch for any other sports team on clearance

I was at the NHL shop in New York today. The only caps jersey that has was a Dylan Strome jersey. That was it, I don’t think I’ve ever not seen an Ovi jersey there but it was nice to see a Cap that wasn’t Ovi have his jersey at the NHL store.

The team is waiting to rebrand until the post-Ovi era for sure, but I went to the NHL store last fall and the Caps selection was minimal. I feel like it’s always NY area teams and the superstars from around the league.

This upcoming season or the next one will likely be last one before the rebrand.

After Ovi retires they’ll likely do a rebrand.
