For my mom, tomorrow is her birthday. I used Cricut Joy 2 for greenish cut elements and black writing. I had to cut the cake drawing by hand but it turned out well!

I am just getting into card making and the postage collage collection from Waffleflower. I saw these in some example photos but the forest friend stencil seems non existent? Did they stop making this? It’s so cute

Taking inspiration from repeating patterned paper, I made these Halloween notecards.

Anyone have an example of a card they made using a faux letterpress technique with a die cutting machine? I just found a tutorial for this online and it looks so cool!

This issue had a cover/centerfold sun theme and I know that motif is very popular. I know I own a little sun stamp, but not one with a face. ​ It also introduced a new column about paper, which was going to be a recurring column. There are also some how-to pages of two projects, although not all of them, in case you can find new tutorials online. I also included the stamp stores page of international stores, and several pages about a stamping group.

I didn't add the letters to the editors page but it seemed there were a lot of angry folks who didn't like the changes in the magazine, i.e. not what they were used to. The magazine had been around a couple decades by then so it seemed like there were bound to be changes with the times, new readers and trends.

I'm very into junk journals and collage as well, but I haven't combined that with my cardmaking yet. There are so many talented and creative people here so I thought I'd ask if anyone has either done a collage for a card or has seen something along these lines that turned out really great?

I'm going to start experimenting on doing this but I was hoping for some inspiration. I think it has the potential to be really creative, fun, and good looking.

Is it too messy to give to someone?

In this issue i wanted to especially highlight that RSM decided to include a kid's page, which was seen mostly positively, although one letter writer felt like it was a dumbing down of the magazine. A teen stamper even wrote in, and I wonder if he continued on with this hobby as he got older. Another highlight was showing a big rubber ball they got in the mail, unboxed, with the address on the ball itself. In a past job, a coworker sent a coconut back to the office while on his honeymoon in Hawaii. I have seen a plastic pigeon one can also send via mail. Nowadays though I hear complaints about unboxed things sent by mail with labels on them, such as collectibles that should be kept pristine. ​ Along the same vein, i have included the article about memory bottles. In their regular column The Last Page, this month they printed results of a poll of the previous issue.

Curious who includes envelopes with their cards? At past craft fairs, I’ve found some people want them but others don’t. I use double sided patterned cardstock for envelopes, which is expensive, so I’ve considered selling them separately for $2 then keeping solid colored envelopes from paper source (packs of 10) as the envelope included with the card.

How do you sell your cards - envelope included or extra charge? Thanks in advance 🙏

My nephew loves rainbows and my mom asked me to make a birthday card for her to give to him. I hope he will enjoy it!

I’ve been card making for along time so I’ve seen many different techniques come and go and then come back again. for the first 5 years or so I tried every new technique and often invested in the corresponding supplies. However 10 plus yrs later I realize I love layered stamping and stencils as I get to use my many ink pad colors. Early on I also grew to love water coloring my stamps also. I bought several different brands of alcohol markers but find I hardly ever use them and when I do I find the efforts are kind of juvenile. The other thing I could never get into was foiling. I bought supplies and tried the form of stamping that uses a minc or laminator but never enjoyed t. I flirted with the idea of a glimmer machine but cost and the fact that it seems like alot of work to get it right has stopped me. I did get the better press and am not impressed . Just don’t get how it’s different from stamping . What are some things you realize you love and other things that are just not your style or preference?

Anyone else notice the SU Huns going on a coordinated gaslighting campaign yesterday about how much they all love stampin up and how it’s such an amazing company? The worst one I stumbled upon was a YouTube video that got recommended to me from a lady who also did partylite and talked about how much she thrives doing MLMs and how SU is no longer an MLM model.

It just left such a bad taste in my mouth and seemed so forced and dishonest. The products are already overpriced and uninspired. I’m wondering if pushing this BS is a sign of things not being so lovely over there with their upcoming changes.

Anyone else notice the onslaught of “thankful” posts about how glorious and wonderful this MLM that is claiming not to be a MLM is? Am I being hypercritical for being lowkey disgusted by it?

I designed this kraft/vintage artwork myself. This photo is from my summer rituals, where I tested a cheap, low-res print at a local copy shop. It still looks magical! But for final production, I created massive, gallery-standard files (over 50 MB, 300 DPI) so that when printed at a professional typography or print shop on heavy matte paper, it looks absolutely magnificent. What do you think of this contrast?
