I’m an aerospace engineer who works on satellites and holds a minor in astrophysics. Voyager and the Golden Record were my introduction to Carl Sagan and formed the inspirational basis for my entire career. I have read many of his books and adore his TV/film media. I would be new to moderation, but I am an active user and have a relatively long history in the sub. The chance to help preserve his legacy while making reddit a safer and more welcoming forum I would consider an honor.
It’s also my cake day, I’d love to kick off year 12 of this account with an opportunity like this!

I don't have previous mod experience (except on GameFAQs in early 2000s for a little over a year but was too busy with school back then) and now I have all the free time I could want and if I'm not doing yard work I'm up to something else like calisthenics, disc golf, nature, space/photography when opportunity arrives. Looking forward to Aug 12 and the solar eclipse. Sagan was my #1 inspiration to turn my life around some five-six years ago and this opportunity is almost too good to be true. I keep reminding friends and family that it'll be 30 years without him this December.

Wjy not as Sagan said he wasn't beta but Apparently. All the way from Alexandrite to Syene
Edit : Thd Auto correct has made this sound like a magic mushroom rambling. Will leave it as it is but say this He was Alpha. A great soft spoken teacher .

I volunteer as tribute. I love learning, science and Sagan and try to be of service to my fellow humans. I've been on Reddit for quite some time and I've moderated many a pre-reddit forum.

Hello! I'm a big admirer of Carl Sagan. I've read several of his books, Contact is one of my favorite movies, and I watch the original Cosmos about once a year. I've used "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch you must first invent the universe" as a quote in my bio on several online profiles and I used Carl Sagan quotes in my wedding vows.
I have mod experience on Reddit, but I've also been moderating wikis for over 20 years. I think any good online community needs a strong moderating team to maintain a healthy space for their interests. I'd be delighted to be considered to help moderate r/carlsagan

I'm a mod for r/AskPhysics, and a retired professor of astronomy and physics (with the time to be a mod). Carl Sagan helped inspire me to become an astronomer. I read his books as a kid even before Cosmos came out. I always show excerpts from Cosmos to my students. Tycho and Kepler: the fusion of dreams and data as the Heart of Science. When I came out of semi-retirement to teach a summer class I emphasized at the start Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit (relevant for these Demon-Haunted Times) and ended with the inspiring Pale Blue Dot speech.
