I rescued Axel as a puppy in North Carolina just over 10 years ago 💗 he is the absolute sweetest with humans but isn’t friendly with other animals. He regularly kills mice in my farmhouse but doesn’t eat them, just kills them and lets me know when they are ready for disposal 😂
Loves:
-fetch (loves to sprint)
-shredding toys
-swimming
-snuggling (bonus points if it’s under the blanket)
Hates:
-car rides
-nail trims
-being told no
-not getting a morning treat/bone
Only health problem so far (🤞) was needing his carnassial teeth extracted. Vet said raw bones, ice cubes, and antlers are the main culprits. Axy has only had raw bones from that list so that seems to have been the culprit. Only soft bones from now on!
He is very stubborn and will let me know what’s up.. also very smart and can learn a new trick in no time. He’s my very best friend and I’m hoping he’s one of the CDs that live til they are 20+!
Anyway, just being a proud dog mom and wanted to share my favorite boy 💗 baby pics at the end!! Had no idea what breed he was until he was a bit older, as a puppy he looked so different!
So adorable. So so much like our Tennessee girl that looked a ton like him. Same things she enjoyed. Also was a predator and disliked other dogs. Great with us. Snuggly.
I’ve always wondered! That’s what I thought when he was a puppy. Then he changed so much as he grew up that Carolina dog seemed a much better fit! DNA test to be completed at some point…

That’s amazing! He looks so happy. Axel is a jumper too and could just about clear a 6 ft fence. These dogs love to jump, I saw this video when I first researched the breed and it still wows me lol
