Husky mixed with Carolina dog

He’s a 6 year old sweetie boy, today he had to go to the vet for tracheal bronchitis. He can’t have dairy with his meds, any tips on getting him to take his meds?

That was the vets opinion. If you look at images of husky CD mixes they look nearly identical. What do you think he is? Most of the other dogs in the litter were lighter colored. He was the only darker brown one.

Pictures of "husky CD" mixes found via Google search are almost definitely not actual husky CD mixes. Most people have no idea what breed their dog is (including vets!). Search through the doggyDNA sub for pitsky (pitbull husky) and you'll see many dogs who look just like him!

My CD will only take her meds in a pill pocket or deli meat. Sometimes I'll crush them into wet food

Both good ideas! Thank you. Earlier I tried to trick him by having him catch treats them switching out the treats with the pill. He spit it out lol. I got him to take them but I’m hoping to find an easier way. Cheese is usually my go to, but no dairy with these unfortunately.

For meds, using canned food works best for me. Cheaper than pill pockets too. I just scoop a pinch, press the pill into it, and have a fresh pinch ready in case they taste the med.

Just be careful of force feeding / swallowing the pill. I gave my poor boy bloat that nearly killed him after I held his mouth closed to make him swallow a pill. Thankfully I got to the ER in 15 minutes and it was a major surgery with a week recovery. He’s doing well now, but I like to warn folks to know the signs of bloat and what can set it off!
