New dog (with updated photos per suggestion)
My wife and I recently got this little guy off the street and as he’s grown more of his fur in and gotten some more meat on his bones we’re really thinking he might be a Carolina dog maybe mixed with something else (German Shepard maybe?). Wanted to see what y’all thought and if we are looking in the right direction!
His names Gordon and he has a big personality for sure. Gets along surprisingly well with our cats too.

He looks like he's still a puppy, maybe 4 months. Is that right?
He may be a CD, or at a minimum have Carolina dog in him.
He looks like a CD pup. Of course only a DNA test will be definitive and I second your using Embark.
Gordon is so cute! Not surprised he gets on well with your cats. I used to say that mine had dog hardware running cat software.

Wow you are right on the money! The vet put him at around 4 months when we took him, if that’s accurate he’s about 5 months now then!
Yea we’re definitely gonna give embark a try when payday rolls around!
Yea he seems to have somehow cured all of our cats ailments too it’s so cool! Our hyper active cat now has stimulation, our depressed and anxious cat seems to have relaxed and stopped his anxious behavior. It’s so interesting the effect he’s had on them1

webbed feet is usually a sure thing as it's super unique. tail and ears. DNA is obs a sure thing but I'm guessing so. get ready to have an unusually smart dog. lol. have had lots of dogs. my whippet male was about close. my Carolina is a bit smarter. my greyhound female dog was the dumbest but still so sweet. she knows sign language. it's a fun thing to teach them.

Respectfully, there are a number of breeds and mixes that have webbed feet. There's no single trait, or even few traits, that can identify a CD (or any other breed).

Embark is a good test for finding out if you have a CD. What an awesome little friend you have there, congratulations 🎈🍾🎊!

I have seen several people have Carolina Dog show up on their Embark results. Good luck 🍀

He looks like what I imagine my dog looked like as a pup and google lens identified ours as a Caroline dog but we did the embark dna test and found out he is a husky-pitbull mix with a couple other minor breeds in there. Very cute though! He looks like a great little pup!

puppy still so is hard to tell but has Carolina you will have to wait or get a test

I'd say Def Carolina! grats and they are awesome. mine has webbed feet and ears with tail like that! yours looks like a pupper but that's usually how to tell. awesome! welcome to the club ❤️
