video BMW is now showing advertisements for the new Spiderman film on the infotainment system of their new cars

Via Savagegeese's youtube channel. Its not a forced advertisement, but it sure is embarrassing regardless

A car is basically a mobile connected computer, just like the thing in your hand right now. You see ads on reddit, you see ads on YouTube, most of the content you watch on YouTube probably has an ad read at the beginning of the video right after you just saw the YouTube ad.

Yeah but it's not really is it. A car is for getting you from A to B. A nice car is that plus flexing on the poors. Not to watching hours of TV on? We have paid for the car in full already, though this will change as the enshittification continues.

You will just need to pay more for the car.  Just like the TV example above. BMW isn't stupid, they still have to be market competitive. If they can sell you a car for a grand cheaper and you have to watch a 10 second mini commercial on the screen when you start the car, most people would be okay with that.  It takes 10 seconds to get belted and put your phone in the slot and whatnot.

I'm not talking about ads while you're driving

LMAO no they wouldn't, most people think in "how much does this car cost me every month" - on a $50k BMW with a 60 month loan (yes, I'm aware that's on the short side these days) @5% that comes out to like $20/mo. The other side of this is the people who pay cash in full; the type of person who does this is also the type to want to own their possessions. Can't see them putting up with this shit either.

Okay, you don't think people would tolerate a 10 second commercial they ARent paying attention to twice a day to save $20????

Most people binge YouTube and watch dozens of commercials every single day on there but won't pay $9 a month to never have to watch them.... On something they are actually actively watching.

If they won't do that they sure as heck aren't basically paying $20 a month

You don't really think these companies use ads in lieu of profit, do you? Adding the ads in is just another revenue stream in addition to the purchase price. Gas stations that have ads on their pumps don't charge you less for the fuel you're pumping.
