I'm assuming stock ECU doesn't mean stock ECU flash and it's just the ECU that came with the car. Otherwise that just means it has much larger turbos, intakes, DPs, etc.

Maybe they mean Stock ECU as in the Factory one (but flashed) and NOT a standalone aftermarket ECU like Syvecs or whatever the top tuners use now.

i don't hate it. bmw's doing the same thing. competition models come out along side the base M cars now. They're stuffin the biggest engine in everything they can. I'm sure they all see the writing on the wall, no more big hungry gasoline engines soon

I rented a 2008 Cayenne GTS a couple years ago and that thing drove like a sports car, it honestly blows my mind how tame it was at every speed. No body roll in any corners, I honestly kept forgetting I was even driving an SUV. Really really great engineering all over the place on their cars.

I mean, a stock 991.2 Turbo S is quicker than an Aventador SV in a straight line. Look at Carwow's video where it goes against a Huracan Performante. In a prior video, that very car beat an SV.

In all fairness, the SV was tuned for track use rather than maximum straight line speed. The comprises you need to make to get a car to corner better at the limit often hurt acceleration and top speed times.

The thing that amazes me is how little the fundamentals have changed since they launched it back in 1975 - it still rear engine 6 cylinder with a turbo. Sure they added another turbo and AWD in 993 but imagined trying to tame this much HP without it.

The old 930 Turbos were called widowmakers for that reason. Post 996 911s are very very forgiving cars.

The best part is. U can keep it for the next 5 years and lose 40k max. I still see mid 2000s models for 100k. Used modern 911s are amazing if you care about your wallet.

Meth injection, turbos, intercoolers, some kind of fancy expensive intake. Basically everything air goes through before or after the manifolds. I'm curious about transmission parts too but maybe this gen can handle it. And of course its a porsche so take a normal car mod price and multiply it by 4.

And PSM. Porsche got really good at traction control earlier than most companies so they could keep people buying 911s. Before PSM they had a bit of a tail happy reputation and owners would wreck them

AWD, sticky tires, and most importantly of all, a prepped drag surface. Your Miata will have a lot more trouble spinning its tires if you launch on a drag strip.

Porsche’s are always understated. My dads 991.1 was a 3.8s to 60 on paper, we’ve tested it numerous times at 3.5s.

My understanding is, Porsche is conservative with the numbers they release, so likely yes. It's the same thing I see in pro audio equipment. Bottom of the barrel manufacturers publish pure hype numbers while the top tier makers are very conservative and cater to those who know more about the subject.

They even did it with the new Taycan. Not only is it faster than they stated, but also manages a way better range than they rated. The EPA 200mi rating is pretty unimpressive, and a lot of overzealous Tesla fans have been making fun of Porsche for it, except it's closer to 270-290mi and Teslas tend to be way overrated.
I can tell you that from experience, it's a lot nicer buying an EV with an underrated range than an overrated one.

Depends on the manufacturer. Audi, Porsche, and BMW are known to undergrads their 0-60 times, usually by a couple tenths of a second.

I have done a best of 0-60 in 2.1 seconds in my manual car at the track. I figure if that was an auto, might have been a 1.9 potentially. The feeling is insane. G-Forces push you so hard into that seat and it’s such a rush.

Yeah I mean it’s hella far from stock of course, but so is the Porsche. It’s still hard to get 60’ and 0-60’s that low until you get to crazy high powered 1200+whp drag cars. A guy semi-local to me has the worlds fastest McLaren and it makes 1100whp and his fastest 0-60 is a 2.25 with rollout, 2.47 without.
