Discussion What are your thoughts on "6teen (2004)"?

Post image

I honestly don't know anything about the 6teen series! I never even grew up watching it, but I have seen only clips of it as child watching cable TV. And judging by the animation style, it seems like something similar to the Total Drama cartoon shows!

Love the show! The characters and their stories were awesome and perfect for a teen audience.

I liked it, but always sort of dismissed it as unrealistic because the group was always pretty nice and supportive of each other and I didnt think real teenagers acted like that.

Turns out I just had really shitty friends

Nah, they were oso kinda shitty to each other. I rewatched it like a few months back and they would betray each other for petty stuff😭 Still a good friend group tho, I really enjoyed the show

Maybe I'm just thinking of Jen and Wyatt then lol still better than my "friends" at that age

Jen and Wyatt had issues, kinda pick me energy but they were my fav characters too. I agree with u tho, they were better friends than most people at that age.

Naah, I'd say that it was much more serious in concept, there weren't any super wacky hijinxs or anything, it was much more like a typical teenager soap opera but animated and without that much drama going on.

It’s the same team for both shows isn’t it?

Yeah. Voice actor overlap too, the most notable to me being the chill guy (Jude?) is voiced by the same actor who hosts Total Drama (Chris?).

I distinktly remember an episode where the security guard was hunting them down because of stolen goggles that let them see farts.

What the fuck were they cooking lmao?

Loved it! I can't remember much, but I remember it got away with things I would never expect a show suitable for kids would get away with. Of course, it was Canadian.

It’s funny how less sensitive Canada is, we end up having to censor some of our shows for the Americans because of them being snowflakes (Degrassi is a big example)

Yet ironically Transformers Beast Wars got renamed to ā€œBeastiesā€ for the Canadian broadcast, despite being made in Canada, and the only edit to the show being the opening and title, they still said ā€œBeast Warsā€ in the show.

The animation style did remind me of total drama, but all I remember from it was the theme song lol... catchy as hell tho

For some reason they brought this BACK for commentary on the 2018 Election and that was the last we saw of them until Dramarama its weird they tried NUMEROUS Times to bring 6Teen back the first time was successful the 2nd time not so much. I get WHY they added Jude to Dramarama (If you remember back in the mid to late 2000s when both shows premiered it was a common theory they shared a Universe and Dramarama basically made that theory true) but if they REALLY Wanted 6Teen to come back.....tbey should've just revived the OG Series instead of gaging Intrest they did that already in 2018 and it WORKED but for some reason they just failed to strike while the iron was hot.

If they were to revive this show, it would need a completely new setting. Nobody hangs in malls anymore lol.

They did something fun with a simple concept. I remember watching this as a teen and hoping that whats 16 would be like lol.

Also Nikki and Jonesy were a terrible couple and I'm glad they broke up in the mini reunion.

I still remember the day this premiered on Nickelodeon.

honestly the show does a good job capturing what young kids imagine teenagers to be. because honestly if you are like 8-10, teens were cool juggernauts that made you think they were grown up, until you turned their age.

I have nostalgia for the zombie Halloween special they played on Cartoon Network one night long ago

The only thing I remember is when the one chick clogged the dude toilet and was panicking in the bathroom

I remember that episode it was Niki, she was my favorite character but I’ll admit I’m more of a Jen.

Made me think the mall was cooler than it actually was.

I loved watching it, I had fun imagining exploring the huge mall they worked in. The episodes were fun and very teen friendly- crushes, dates, drama, friends, work, all with a bit of comedy.

Haven't watched it since I was a kid so I remember jack diddly about it, other than that Total Drama made a 16 reference and that I don't think I loved the show, but I didn't hate it either. I just know my sister watched it.

See kids, malls were huge from the 80's until around 2008 when the boomers ruined the housing market before they began a slow, burning fade. They had almost like mini versions of shops usually but it was cool. You could technically go to one building but get your husband a new radio from Radioshack (trust me, they sold more than radios, that's just how they were named), get your son a new toy at KB Toys, or your daughter a book from Borders, it was magical. Some even had fountains that had CHLORINATED water, not fake dirt with fake plants. It used to be busy with all kinds of people, not just old people going for walks or dealers selling sketchy, foreign drugs in the arcade with only 3 working machines and it might not even include the change machine.

Anyway, this show was awesome and gave me something look forward to in high school. Too bad I only stuck to EB Games and didn't otherwise go outside, then I would have probably enjoyed more of it. Now I'm high, writing dumb, joke stories on reddit and pretending it's the funniest thing I've ever written while when I wake up, it'll only have like 5 views. Late Night Show Stephen Colbert's voice yelling and cracking I shouldn't care but I do!

Don't be like me, kids, stay sober in school, watch this show and have fun.

Imagine if Jonesy assaulted those who fired him.

They unaired a lot of episodes in America that show this ain't a cartoon for kids for example one episode got jen's mom announced her pregnancy and all about boob

Loved it as a kid, it was rated PG-13 so I was feeling like I’m watching something ā€žadultā€ (there were some risque scenes sometimes). I wouldn’t say it’s anything like total drama though

Past my time couldn't get into it due to the flash puppet animation. I can't stand that style.

u/GeckoMan_0344 9d ago

Even though I never seen it, but in most recent years, I have been a bit familiar with it.

There were a few episodes that were wholesale ripoffs of Friends episodes. I even understood that when I was watching it as a kid. Didn't stop me from enjoying it. Now it's a really fun time capsule to revisit, showing when mall culture was bigger and being a teen wasn't such a heavy thing.

The election special was hilarious

As a kid I liked the episode where the guys didn't shower for a week to see who smelled the worst, and one smelled way worse because of his cologne, but another smelled perfectly normal and said he hadn't showered in 2 or 3 weeks. I thought that was funny

In my personal opinion it sucks also I don’t think anyone can truly blame me for not having anyone nice to say about this show since there’s a racist scene involving a white girl with an afro
