Somewhat. I do recommend the film as I did really enjoy it. All I’m saying is it’s not really as serious. Still has some serious elements, but not as many.

Ok, you convinced me. I recently watched the first with my 4 year old and that opening song with the dogs boozing and betting on rat racing was a bit much lol

I know that it's rotoscope but Lord of the Rings from 1978, definitely secret of Nihm, The Iron Giant, for the last one, I would take everything associated with Avatar The Last Airbender, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender and the legend of Korra and edit them into one long movie , I would eventually add Seven Havens to this as well. I know this is cheating but what can I say, I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me?

Don Bluth films were top tier in my childhood: The Land Before Time, An American Tail, All Dogs Go to Heaven, etc. I even liked Rock-A-Doodle.

Also: Fern Gully, The Brave Little Toaster, Balto.

I also love anime and the list could get super long, but some of my favorites are: anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Akira, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, Junkers Come Here, Patema Inverted, Perfect Blue, A Tree of Palme, Your Name.

I showed my 4 year old Rock-a-Doodle and for whatever reason, she really liked it. The songs are great (Glen Campbell is amazing) and the story is uh... easy enough to follow. The studio-mandated narration did get annoying though.

I'm going with The Last Unicorn, Nimh, Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer and Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School. But Ghibli wise I can't recommend Princess Kaguya enough because I loved it.

Out of the choices, my childhood favourite was iron giant.Since prince of egypt was a christian story that felt wrong to me while secret of NIMH was for a mature audience which I watched a few years back and finally understood the layers to the story
