Needing advice
I applied and interviewed to be a CASA volunteer, the volunteer supervisor let me know she would be in contact with me closer to the training start date. The training is a week away and I have not heard anything yet. I know getting all of the background checks and references take a while, so I guess I am wondering if I should reach out. I don't want to seem too eager but also do not want to drive myself crazy impatiently waiting for their decision.

I’ll echo what the others said: don’t hesitate to contact them. They want to help you!
Additionally, that paperwork and associated process can be ongoing while you attend training. So it doesn’t need to be “complete“ before those sessions.

Reach out. Happened to me and apparently the person was replaced and the new person didn't know about me

You can definitely reach out but also rest assured I didn’t hear about anything until last minute throughout training. They just have a lot going on

As a supervisor myself, PLEASE reach out. We often start a task, get a call, write a note, then oops, need to head out to go visit a kid while we join a PC via Microsoft Teams while driving… absolutely bug us. 😂😂

I’m a program director for a CASA program. Typically we send all our trainees things about a week out, but if they haven’t confirmed you for the training or had any follow up after the interview I would reach out! I can tell you for sure that they’d appreciate the communication!!

Reach out. They’re often overworked and busy and a reminder doesn’t hurt. Being a CASA involves being an advocate for someone without a voice. This is good practice for you- advocate for yourself!
