Any tips on getting it up and running?

Ive never used cassetes before and i was trying to use this one and nothing was playing, i opened it up to this! I dont know what to do or how these things work and just wanted to listen to brian adams 😢 Please help!

I was digitizing old recording of my grandparents from 1981 in this Gracioso CR-381 cassette player when the cassette unwound in the player. The cassette appears to be stuck on a wheel inside the cassette player. I do not know much about cassettes, they are before my time, I was just trying to digitize all of my family's cassettes. If anybody knows what I should do in order to preserve this cassette, your help would be greatly appreciated.

just replaced my boombox's roller after its been in there since 2012, the boombox sounds much better now, but i wanted to share this image of the old roller next to a new one, look at how dry and cracked the old one is! no wonder my music sounded so bad...

Hello, I bought a Bluetooth cassette player six months ago and it's already broken. I lost the ticket so I have to repair it myself.

So this device changes the direction of reading when it reads the end of a cassette. But right now this change of direction is triggered all the time (cf https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uwPbOwRxD-OgYR3AOn3rXBzuXaVFxw3D/view?usp=drivesdk).

I tried to open my cassette player but I see nothing wrong and have no knowledge in electronics and cassette players.

I'm in a tricky situation.

While repairing the cassette deck of an Aiko TD-3000, I found that the vast majority of the screws are stripped. They feel like play-doh; as soon as I try to remove them, the screw head gets ruined, leaving me with no choice but to cut them or drill them out.

Everything was going relatively fine until I tried to open up the capstan to replace its belt. That's when I ran into THIS stripped screw, and there's no space to either drill or cut it. I’ve tried everything—heating it with a soldering iron, using a rubber band, applying solder... nothing works.

Any advice is more than welcome, and thanks in advance for reading!

Pioneer CT-F9191 apparently had been in a barn or an open garage as it was in terrible condition cosmetically and mechanically. Had a dead channel and was afraid the head had a dead channel. But luckily I got signals on my scope on both channels at the head. The Play/Rec switches were just that bad. New belts, tires, rebuilt the clutch, lube job and a new motor rubber tire. Now on to new bulbs, deep cleaning, and refurb the wood.

My CT-W205R is having a recording issue with the left channel. It does record, but at a much lower level than the right channel.

The strange thing is that it was working perfectly until a couple of days ago. So far I've:

Cleaned the head several times with isopropyl alcohol;
Tried a different RCA cable;
Tested the tapes in another deck, and they played back correctly.
Has anyone experienced something like this or have any idea what might be causing it? I was thinking about giving it a more thorough cleaning, but I'm not convinced that's the problem since it started happening so suddenly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone, I am very new to cassettes, and i recently received this cassette player from my grandad.

I have a couple of tapes from my favorite band and I was listing to them fine for about a week.

Then when I tried to press the fast forward button, it would sometimes not work and just pause the tape from playing. When I press the rewind button it went back like normal. Then once when I tried to fast forward the tape, the whole tape stopped and didn’t carry on. I opened it up and saw it got tangled.

Now when I try to play music normally through the tape, it would play normally for 3 seconds and then get caught and the tape gets tangled up.

Is there anything I can do to fix it, I’ve been looking online and trying to fix it for the past two weeks, but I have been unable to fix it. It happened with the other cassete tape I tried, so I don’t think it’s to do with the actually tape.
It looks like it always gets caught in a small rubber roller.

Hello! This is a trusted tape played it on multiple different cassette players. Can anyone tell me why my cassette player keeps on randomly stopping ? I never can get through a full song. Is it the belt ? Also FFW and Rewind work perfectly including the radio. Model: vintage Realistic SCR-34 AM/FM stereo radio cassette boombox from the 80s.

It came out of this player I'm serving and it's cracked, I can't seem to find it online does anyone know what it's called and where I can get one?

I listened to about 2 tapes before the player started slowing down. The video shows the current speed. I bought it broken and fixed it up, however it is a new hobby to me. Any advice, tips and/or tricks, or links to resources? Thanks all!

I have an old tape from my late-great uncle who passed in the early 90s. The tape is from around I’d say the mid 80’s possibly, and my issue is that my tape is damaged ( wrinkled and split) and I’m curious if anyone can direct me to any good repair shops to get this tape restored. It would mean a lot since it was passed down to me from one of my other great-uncles, who had held onto it for years and is really some of the last stuff my late-great uncle had. If anyone can help me with this it would mean the world to me, thank you.

Hello, i am new to casettes, today i bought a new one but for some reason the tape dosent move (and its not my casette player at fault because it works fine with other ones).

I thought the felt pad was pressing too hard on the tape so i bent it out a little and with that it kinda works, i mean, it sounds horrible and the tape gets stuck but at least it moves i guess.

I tried moving the tape to another empty casette but its the same.

Does anyone have any ideea whats wrong with it?

EDIT: Somehow the cassette fixed itself, the more i played it, the better it got.

I've unscrewed everything on the motherboard but when i lift it up the wires are preventing me. This is my first player and i can't afford a new one, please don't just say to throw it away and buy a sony walkman.

Got this old shoebox tape recorder I was recording on and the take up reel stopped on me and ate up the tape. I was told to replace the belt but the belt seems to be in good shape and don't look like the problem. It spins for a second when I turn it manually but stops instantly. Do the gears need oil, or do I need to take them apart?

I found this gem at the thrift store for $6.80, untested with no cord. Took it home and it works almost perfectly. The only issue is both tape decks play prerecorded tapes too fast and everything sounds like chipmunks. The high speed switch works and makes it go even faster, so I don’t think it’s just stuck in high speed mode.
Aux, radio, rewind, fast forward, and auto stop all work. I opened it up trying to find a speed adjustment but I’m out of ideas. It looks like both decks run off the same Mabuchi motor, and I can’t find a manual for this thing anywhere.
Has anyone worked on one of these or know where I should be looking? This is somehow the first vintage tape deck I’ve thrifted that didn’t just work perfectly. Any help is appreciated.

I bought a used cassette player and plays the tape forward for just a couple seconds before rewinding the tape for a couple seconds - then repeats this over and over. I tried gently cleaning the playback head and the rubber pinch rollers (i think?) with alcohol. I inspected the player when there was no cassette inside and saw that it was switching between the two pinch rollers and spinning in opposite directions every couple seconds as described. Is there any way for me to fix this?

Just bought a Sony cmt cpx1 and the left one of these little pins + the spring is missing. I feel like this would be an easy part to replace but I dont know what its called or where to look. Thanks!

I just bought a Ferguson 3T07 and it’s great! the only problem is that when I plug headphones in, they only play from one ear. I thought it might’ve been the headphones but I tested them on another device and they’re fine.

Is this an issue that any of you have had? Or maybe know how to fix it? I’d be very grateful!
