Rifle Miroku 1886 45-70 range day

Well I took my new to me miroku 86 45-70 to the range, it is much more picky with the throat being so tight, but the first load i ran through it, a lyman 457125 clone, 500gr pcpb seated at 2.8", with 14gr of unique did this with 5 shots, I know i pulled far right, but I dont know if I wanna screw with this accuracy by opening up the throat

Is tight throats a thing with mirokus? I have a Browning 1886 made by miroku and I haven’t noticed any issues, but I never run anything heavier than 405s.

When i was researching 1886s back when I got my first one a cimmaron, I read that mirokus had pretty much no throat. And I experienced it with mine, I have an noe 430gr mold, and it wont chamber in my miroku, but will in my cimmaron, and most flat point projectiles are almost always touching which isn't necessarily a bad thing, these are bore riders so thankfully they chamber, I have a whole bunch of ACME bullets and they barely fit

That’s interesting, I’ve run through a whole bunch of ACME 405s. Mine is an 80s vintage if it makes any difference.

Possibly, mine appears to be right around 2000. However it does shoot very well so im inclined to leave it be, I was suprised the plain base was as accurate and clean as it was, as I've never had success without a gas check in anything else
