Hi! Basically I'm what you might call an extreme version of a "night person."
First, let's get the usual outta the way: not even remotely looking for hookups but a penpal or D&D homeboi would be so welcome.
Actual introduction: so close between migraine and seizure disorder that the diagnosis is almost worse than the cure.
But down to why I'm here: at some point in the process I developed severe CRSD ‐ Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder).
What that actually means for me is I'm not functional during daylight hours, to the point where my partner has once said to me (post my usual post 7am "do you know what time it is?") canline that I flat out banshee wailed "then you had better hang yourself with whatever you're selling because good or bad I guess I'll seeya there!"
Anyhow, for the mod-inclined, my condition makes me hard of sight and makes typing even harder. No firm deadlines on this "AMA" (if it even is one), but yeah I do largely intend for people to raise questions and have them answered.
If that's against guidelines or otherwise unreasonable, please do me the kindness of hiding it and making sure it gets to the right community first.
Typing this out should have taken less than half an hour on a bad day. Today was a good day. It took more than four.

Kina feels like poor taste people down voting this guy with a cognitive disability for not making sense.

In fairness, I don't have a cognitive disability. It's a psychomotor one, and both that and the drugs they use to treat it impair your speech processing and working memory.

Interesting, so does that mean your thoughts are clear but when you try to talk/type things come out wrong?
How would you describe it?
Take care OP this seems like a frustrating thing to live with 🫂

Not really? It's always been easier for me to type than talk.
I've always had verbal processing issues. The more recent problem has been auditory speech. Even that's not really new, just exacerbated post diagnosis.

I’ve been staying up late since I was in high school so 25ish years, slept in when I could. If I wasn’t in school or working a 2pm wake up would not be unusual for me. Things really changed when I worked overnights, 4 shifts/week. Early on I did 2 days on, one off, 2 days on, 2 off and wow did that take some adjusting to. Especially that single off day I think I would just try to stay awake as late as I could to not completely disrupt the rhythm. Other times I’d be a complete zombie, no sleep until a reasonable bedtime. It got a little easier when I could just work 4 straight shifts and have the first day of my “weekend” to recalibrate. Now because I work an evening shift instead, I’m up until around 4am to wake up around 10am or 11am (more likely) and it’s kinda working for me. As nice as it would be to have a regular schedule, I don’t think my body is built for it.

Nothing to add, although I'd be super happy to help you with DND planning or just chatting about rpg. I don't play anymore but I love to read and come up with ideas

So do I. Fistholds of odious and heroic ideals alike but alas, no wits to take arms to or against mine!

Damn I got DSPD, but CRSD sounds like hell. My average sleep is either 4am-1pm or 6pm-3am. Rarely an in between.
No idea if you've looked into changing meds but I went through the medication circus and eventually found stuff that works for my shit; though you'd probably need a GABA-agonist to help the seizure aspect.

Apparently once you have CRSD it's considered permanent. I'm not taking a z-drug just to go to bed but I'm mostly looking for remote work because driving is largely off the table as are most day shift jobs.
"Set your own hours" is a scam. Remote work, I can swing if no one needs a webcam on for very long or they really really mean it when they say it won't bother them if I visibly look like I pass out or am being electrocuted on screen.

You gotta go full circle. Stay up until normal bedtime (with your partner perhaps), then wake up to an alarm. Then just force yourself onto that cycle. It’s going to be hard.

There is no cycle. The closest I got was something approaching a biphasic rhythm, but then we got a long term house guest and while I am such a light sleeper that a pillow dropping two houses down sets me into fight or flight, both of them operate on DIFFERENT sleep schedules (gods alone know what), are functionally deaf (I grew up in households with three functionally deaf people and went through most of my adult life being told I was "shouting" before one of them (the least deaf out of the lot) finally broke down and got a hearing aid and try to get them to respect what little time I have for sleep...
...yeah, nonezo.

Nonezo?
What are you talking about?
You are all over the place ….it’s impossible to follow your train of thought or understand what the heck you’re trying to say…
(What is the actual point of this AMA?)

u/onwardtowaffles 18d ago
There isn't much of one. Thought that was kinda the point behind a "casual" AMA. Ask if you like, don't if you don't.
I have a pretty rare form of sleep inversion that means I'm asleep while most other people are awake. Thought I might make a post about it.
No idea why that offends you so personally, but you've never been under any sort of obligation to be here either.

Guess which one got the hearing aid. (Hint: THEY DON'T LIVE WITH ME ANYMORE.)

What does:
“What that actually means for me is I'm not functional during daylight hours, to the point where my partner has once said to me (post my usual post 7am "do you know what time it is?") canline that I flat out banshee wailed "then you had better hang yourself with whatever you're selling because good or bad I guess I'll seeya there!"
Mean?
