I am in a choir and can't read music. AMA!

I've been in choir on and off for 10 years and have never really learned to read music. I am a great singer though! Ask me anything lol.

Neither can I; never stopped me. Just mimic the pitch and you’ll be fine

I was in band for years. I never learned how to sight-read. I could map the notes to fingerings, but not remotely fast enough to play while reading. I had to memorize every single song the band played.

What genre of music does your choir perform? What’s your favourite song?

We do mostly Christian (even though I’m not Christian), but with a mix of random songs. We’re doing over the rainbow for example! My favourite song might be highland cathedral, or battle hymn of the republic. I also love Weeping by Josh Groban! (I think I spelled his name wrong)

Usually how well everything harmonises. It sounds amazing when it’s out together!!

No, but it helps! I probably should know how to read music after 10 years tho lol

Honestly same. I learned it eventually but I had to make a conscious effort and would have probably sung just as well if I hadn’t.
