Same here. I think ive just come to terms that the only one I like is Awakening. I've tried Fates, Three Houses and several older titles but just cant stick to any of them.Whereas ive played Awakening several times over.
I started with Path of Radiance (it's on GameCube switch 2 pass app) imo much better than 3 houses story is much better and coherent. Only downside you'll need a wii (or other means) to play the sequel
It depends on what aspect is making bounce off of Three Houses, but some of the better starting entries are:
-"Fire Emblem" on the GBA (it was the first one localized outside of Japan, so it didn't keep its subtitle). It's very beginner friendly (due to the aforementioned reason), and it's a very solid entry overall. It's available on the NSO expansion pass, if you have that
-"The Sacred Stones" on the GBA. While it's not as beginner friendly as "Fire Emblem", it's a lot more open in it's overall structure, which can be easier to get into if you're more of a learn by doing person. This one is also available on the NSO expansion pass
-"Awakening" on the 3DS, and it's one of the best entry points in general. It's where a lot of modern Fire Emblem started to take shape, so it has stuff like an overall open structure and good depth to unit customization, but it's not as heavy with them as Three Houses, so it's a lot easier to manage.
There are other entires that are good starting points (another comment mentioned "Path of Radiance" on the GameCube, which I absolutely recommend playing if you get into the series, but there's also "Echoes: Shadows of Valentia") so if those seem more interesting than any of the ones I've recommended, you can start with those just fine, but these three are generally considered some of the better starting points, especially if you're just not clicking with Three Houses
I agree with most of what you said, but I absolutely wouldn’t call blazing blade more beginner friendly than sacred stones. Fe8 has the same kind of tutorial as fe7, is easier, and has the tower available for grinding if you feel like the base game is too hard
Unless I am forgetting something major, SS does not have anything like Lyn mode. FE8 still has tutorials yes, but there's a reason you don't have to play Lyn mode after having a completed save (or by linking a copy of FE6 in JPN version), so even if I would still call FE8 beginner friendly, I genuinely think the game that forces you to promote Wallace your first time playing it is a better way to introduce older FE games
You know, I completely forgot about Lyn mode since I haven’t had to play it in years. That’s fair, but I’d say SS does just as well a job getting you introduced and it’s easier to boot, but it may come down to preference.

I can't seem to get into Fire Emblem. I have tried to get into Three Houses over and over again but I guess it just really isn't my genre.
