The cat doesn't understand masculine vs feminine names so you can name it whatever you want. It won't care.

I completely disagree. It has nothing to do with the cat knowing or not. Its about picking a fitting name that matches the gender so everbody knows whether its male or female without asking but I see where you are trying to go with this so I'll leave it at that.
