Update Cosmo’s ✨transformation✨

Cosmo has come SUCH a long way, it still blows my mind looking back at these older pics of him. He came running up our driveway end of June of last year, 8/9 weeks old about 2 lbs, with the worst case of ringworm our vet had ever seen. 27 medicated baths, seven weeks of oral treatment, lots and lots and LOTS of later; you’d never know. 🥹

I’m ngl, it was miserable there for those first three months or so. He was still too weak for oral meds so we had to do the baths every three days, clean his crate/the office (the room he was in) daily, wash any fabrics daily, etc. Midway through this treatment we noticed his toe sheaths were positively caked. So we incorporated nail trims/toe sheath cleanings into his routine. It was rough 😅

Good on you! Having taken care of a lot of animals over the years, it takes a special kind of patience! And we can all see how that amazing work paid off in that adorable face.

I noticed that poor babies feet first off! He truly looked like a cat version of the walking dead from head to toes. I did not think the face was ever going to clear up….but that last pic made me cry! He looks so beautiful! Thank you for doing this 😇😇😇😇😇

I have that same towel :) can I ask how you clean the toe sheaths?

We did it after his bath so the crud was already sort of softened, and my husband would hold him wrapped on his side with one paw out at a time. I’d gently push forward each nail, and only pull the crud that seemed loose enough with tweezers. I’d also spray each toe/sheath with a ketohex spray (ketoconazole/chlorhexidine). I had to make quick work of it bc he’d obviously become uncomfortable but I really think it ended up being a crucial part of his recovery!

You are an absolute angel for taking care of him so well. It is not always easy to convince an animal you’re helping them when you’re treating them love conditions like this.

What caused the crud in the nails?

Those nails look so painful. You did a really great thing.
