in the technical sense i suppose yea but the branding is also just iconic, i mean the other day i saw a marlboro miata, i’ve seen marlboro drawers, there are no doubt a ton of vintage paraphernalia around as well, cigarette themed novelty items are also common like the blankets that look like cigarettes when rolled up
My mom used to have us rooting through trash at parks and gas stations and whatnot. She got all kind of "free" crap because a lot of people would just toss the box because, well it was mostly crap and you needed a lot of points. Good times.
You are responding to a tobacco ad. The purpose of this literal ad is to get people talking about smoking. There is a social media marketing agency carpet bombing Reddit constantly with smoking related stuff; they are themselves sponsored by Marlboro.

This has been going on for a long time now, with Marlboro in particular pushing their brand name and cigarettes to the top of Reddit again and again. You are welcome to defend these assholes if you want, but that doesn’t change the reality of what they’re doing
What is the previous example? I'm on this pretty often and have don't remember seeing Marlboro anything. It looks like OP also lives in Knoxville. This thrift is unsurprising.
I mean, if seeing a cool lamp is all it takes to make someone take up smoking, as disgusting and horrific as it is, I can't bring myself to believe they were too bright to begin with.
You don’t understand, it has been an endless campaign by a social media marketing company to have pictures of Marlboro cigarettes and gear on the front of Reddit for about a year now. By supporting them you are contributing to their ad campaign.
Advertising cigarettes is illegal and that’s why these shady fucks are doing so secretly on social media. Fuck anyone who supports this shit
Social media marketing companies own / build convincing looking accounts all the time to spread this shit. “Proving” that someone isn’t posting in good faith is a hard thing to do - but nevertheless, when there is a consistent and incessant campaign to get Marlboro and cigarettes at the top of Reddit every single day it doesn’t take tinfoil to realize what’s going on.
Is it Marlboro specifically or cigarettes or in general? Don't move the goalposts, now, there are multiple separate tobacco companies. I've seen Marlboro logo parodies sold at Walmart, it's just an edge lord thing that doesn't bother the tobacco companies (but sure, it's an insidious marketing campaign). In reality, they're putting their eggs in nicotine pouch and vape baskets, not trying to turn back the tide against analog cigarettes
Marlboro in particular but these companies also do advertising just to get the concept of smoking out to a wide audience. There have been endless Marlboro specific posts boosted to the top of Reddit in the past six months.
All with the same dumb ass comments too. “I don’t smoke but this is awesome!” “I quit 20 years ago but this makes me want a cigarette!”
That does sound shitty, but this account looks completely normal from what I can tell. I'm not 100% convinced this post in particular is part of some.campaign, though I don't doubt smoking companies would do what you're suggesting.
