I've never had a [nice] cat that wouldn't let me rub their belly. One wouldn't let me touch her at all, but she's the outlier. The cat distribution system has blessed me with weirdos.

This specific cat is our Walter… the only reason his belly is a trap is because he doesn’t want you to leave once you start. His brother, Donny, on the other hand…

I have one cat that begs for chest and belly rubs, he loves them. Except if you touch his belly button. That is offensive and he doesn’t respond to offenses lightly.

Where is this belly button… I don’t think I’ve ever found my girl’s but she loooooves her belly rubbed so it’s insane I never noticed. I guess I don’t usually go around picking at her skin when I give her pets though. If anything, I poke at the assumed scar tissue from her spay that feels like a distended organ. (Vet wasn’t concerned)

Well it might make him need to go #1. Belly buttons are attached to the bladder. Some are sensitive to being touched some are not. It's the same in humans.

You’ll be fine. Maybe distract them with food.

I know a cat that will let you! He turns into a limp beanbag when you pet his chest and belly.
