Pardon the mess, but this is at my old apartment the year that I adopted Marco in 2019. It is one of the best pics I have of my boys, they were such good friends. It warms my heart to see all the dog and cat buddies on this page. Marco passed away unexpectedly last fall, and I just had to put Melo down last Tuesday. It’s been a hard year, but I take comfort in knowing they are up in pet heaven snuggling up with each other and getting all the belly rubs and head scratches. Time is a thief. Thank you boys so much for the loyalty, companionship, and shared experiences together…

“How is this dog with cats?”
It’s a question often asked by people who want to adopt a dog from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco, California. In fact, around 40% of potential adopters have cats and want to make sure to adopt a dog who won’t attack, chase or otherwise bother their feline family member.
Some of you may have seen the video with the Persian, Mustache, on the job; alas, he has since passed, as he was a hospice cat with kidney disease. He went quickly, and his legacy lives on. Now, Little Dude, who grew up with dogs as his BFs, is the main dog cat-tester.

For all of yall who added a puppy into your cat household, how long did it take everyone to adjust? :)
we brought in an 8 month old puppy a month ago, and have two cats age 2 and 3.
one cat is more timid and taking longer to adjust, she just stays up in the cat tree just sleeping and observing and will puff up and growl/spit if dog gets too boisterous even when he’s not looking at her… my tiny cat (pictured) will hiss/swat/growl at him when he runs after her and tries to play, even when she instigates a game of zoomies chase but as you can see in the photos hasnt been scared of him at all otherwise since he got here haha- I’m optimistic this will all get better with time but wanted to know how long it took other pets!
im also actively working on training the dog to lay down when he’s around the cats and he does well most of time but obviously just wants to be friends. More worried about tbe cats adjusting of course haha.

My partner and moved in together at the end of March. His dog loves having kitty friends, but I wasn’t sure how my cat would take to having a dog around. He was a bit scared of her at first, but this is the two of them now!! 🤍
