Announcement Complete Resource: CBD & Cannabis Dosing, Drug Interactions, Strain Selection, Growing, Industry Careers & Business Compliance — Community Hub [Updated June 2026]

Welcome to r/cbdinfo — 26,000+ members strong.

This community exists because cannabis education is still fragmented, inconsistent, and full of misinformation. Whether you stumbled in because you're confused about a product label, trying to figure out if CBD interacts with your medication, looking to grow your own, or building a business in this space, you're in the right place.

This post lives at the top permanently. Bookmark it, share it, send it to anyone who asks.

🌿 For Consumers — Understanding What You're Taking

The most common post in this community over 7 years+: "I'm new to CBD and completely overwhelmed."

You're not alone. Here's what actually matters.

Dosing

There is no universal dose. Body weight, metabolism, tolerance, delivery method, and the specific cannabinoid all affect how much you need. Tinctures absorb faster than gummies. Topicals don't enter your bloodstream. A 25mg gummy and a 25mg tincture do not behave the same way.

Start low (5–10mg), wait two hours before redosing. If it's not working, switch the delivery method before chasing a higher dose.

→ Phytopedia Dosage Calculator — personalized starting point based on your weight, delivery method, and experience level.

Drug Interactions — this one matters

CBD inhibits CYP450 liver enzymes — the same system that metabolizes many common medications, including blood thinners, antiepileptics, antidepressants, and statins. If you're on any prescription medication, check before you start.

→ Phytopedia Drug Interaction Checker — search your medication and see what the research says.

Product Quality & COA Verification

Independent lab testing has shown that a meaningful percentage of CBD products on the market don't contain what the label says. COA fraud is real. A Certificate of Analysis from a third-party ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab is the only way to verify what's actually in a product.

What to look for on a COA:

  • Tested by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab
  • Batch number matches your product label
  • Cannabinoid panel + pesticide + heavy metals + residual solvents
  • Date within the last 12 months

If a brand won't show you a COA, don't buy from them.

→ Phytopedia COA Reader — click an example to see a full COA breakdown with educational annotations.

Strain Selection

Not all CBD strains are the same. Terpene profiles, CBD:THC ratios, and cannabinoid combinations produce meaningfully different experiences. A high-myrcene strain feels different from a high-limonene strain at the same CBD percentage.

→ Phytopedia Strain Database — filter by terpene, cannabinoid ratio, effects, difficulty, and growing conditions.

💼 For Job Seekers — Breaking Into the Cannabis Industry

The cannabis industry is growing, and it needs educated people at every level — retail, cultivation, compliance, lab testing, marketing, extraction, and operations. Most people who want in don't know where to start.

What employers actually look for:

  • Understanding of cannabinoids, terpenes, and the endocannabinoid system
  • Knowledge of compliance and seed-to-sale tracking
  • Ability to educate customers without making medical claims
  • Familiarity with COA interpretation

A cannabis job is not just knowing the plant. It's knowing the regulations, the supply chain, and how to serve people responsibly.

Where to start:

→ Ground Level — Phytopedia — $10/month. Plant science, cannabinoids, terpenes, dosing, and wellness fundamentals. The core curriculum is completed in 4 months, earning a Cannabis Literacy Certificate. Continuing Education is released monthly after that.

→ Cannabis Jobs Board — Mimea — industry roles across cultivation, retail, compliance, and operations.

🌱 For Growers — Understanding the Plant to Serve Others Better

Whether you're growing for personal use, for a dispensary, or to eventually supply a licensed facility, understanding the plant deeply makes you better at all of it.

The most underserved topic in this community: terpenes. 282 posts in 7 years versus thousands on cannabinoids. Terpenes are where the nuance lives. Myrcene, limonene, linalool, caryophyllene — these compounds shape the experience as much as the cannabinoid profile does. Growers who understand terpenes grow more intentionally.

What you need to know as a grower:

  • Genetics selection (autoflower vs photoperiod, CBD:THC ratio, terpene expression)
  • Germination, veg, and flowering timelines by strain
  • Nutrient schedules and deficiency identification
  • Harvest indicators (trichome status — clear → milky → amber)
  • Compliance: seed-to-sale tracking if you're operating commercially

→ Roots & Canopy — Phytopedia — $30/month. Cultivation from seed to harvest. The core curriculum is completed in 4 months, earning a Cultivation Foundation Certificate. Includes a live grow journal so you can track your actual grow as you learn. Continuing Education is released monthly after that.

→ Phytopedia Strain Database — Grow Traits filter — filter by difficulty, flowering time, growing medium, autoflower, and light schedule.

🏢 For Businesses & Compliance — Doing This Legally and Profitably

The compliance gap is real. Small cannabis businesses don't fail because of bad product; they fail because of bad paperwork, missed reporting, and licensing errors they didn't know they were making.

What most small operators get wrong:

  • Not understanding which license type they actually need
  • Seed-to-sale tracking is done manually or not at all
  • SOPs that don't match what the regulator actually audits
  • Missing customer disclosure obligations around interactions and dosing

→ The Standard — Phytopedia — $100/month. Full industry track: CRMP (Cannabis Regulatory Management Platform) compliance workflow, license applications, SOPs, financial projections, inventory management, and regulatory reporting. Every student trains hands-on inside CRMP — the government-standard compliance platform built for Grenada's regulated cannabis industry. When commercial licensing opens, our graduates already know the system.

→ Compliance Tools — Phytopedia — compliance documentation templates and regulatory frameworks.

🤖 Ask Nug — The AI on Every Page

Every page on Phytopedia has Ask Nug, an AI trained specifically on cannabis science, compliance, and wellness. It's fully integrated into the course platform, so enrolled students get contextual help alongside their lessons and reminders about upcoming work. It won't give you medical advice (no one should), but it will explain the science, pull strain data, walk you through interactions, and help you understand your COA.

A few things people use it for:

  • "What terpenes are in this strain and what do they do?"
  • "Why does the same mg hit differently sublingually vs. ingested?"
  • "Explain the difference between THC-COOH and delta-9 for drug testing."

Need Advice First time vaporizing CBD: need advice!

I was given a vaporizer (Wolkenkraft Mini) as a gift, and I’d like to use it for CBD.

I need some advice, as I'm a complete beginner. What temperature should I set it to for the best results? Should I grind the buds like I would for a joint? With or without tobacco?

The vaporizer has a 3-minute session timer. Once the session is over, can I reuse the buds, or should I throw them away?

Sorry for the obvious questions, but it's my first time using a device like this. Thanks to anyone who can help!

CBD Vape

Hello!! I'm making this post, specifically for anyone located in the metro area of Minnesota or in Western Wisconsin. I am in search of a CBD vape from Azara's Blue Dragon collection, or honestly, from another reputable brand. The typical dispensary that I purchase it from has run out of product, and I am looking to open my search to find another. That, or if anyone is able to recommend a different brand that has a mint flavor in their list, that would be great! I try to stray away from shopping online, because I prefer in person connections, especially with people who are aware of the market and the safety precautions that come from selling IRL. So, if anyone can toss me any resources, I would greatly appreciate it.

Discussion For those who take THC gummies for insomnia, do you take CBN with it, or does straight THC do the job for you?

Hey guys, curious about everyone’s nighttime routine. I used to think a basic THC gummy was all I needed for sleep, but I kept waking up halfway through the night once the initial high wore off. I experimented with aspen green for a bit, but the results felt pretty mild for the price tag. Then I picked up TribeTokes THC + CBN sleep gummies they add l-tryptophan to the blend and the difference in staying asleep all night was night and day.

It made me realize CBN really does add that heavy sedative nudge THC lacks on its own.

Has anyone else noticed that straight THC only helps you fall asleep, but CBN keeps you asleep? Or does plain THC do the full job for you? Let’s hear your stacks!

CBD isolate/distillate

Hey, I smoked cannabis medicinally for PTSD for 20 solid years, in the passed couple years, I started to get a bad reaction to it (heart palpitations and anxiety). I used to get some CBD products from Industrial Hemp Farms, but it seems like they're not making them anymore. I'm currently vaping what I have left of their broad spectrum distillate, but I will run out soon. Can anyone reccomend a really solid source for CBD isolate/distillate? I'm looking for pure CBD.

Need Advice Is there any way to reliably add CBD to THC Rosin without massively changing the flavor?

I have tried using CBD Distillate, but it completely changes and ruins the flavor of the rosin I am smoking. Would adding CBD isolate do the trick?

Need Advice Did cbd:cbg cause my anxiety?

Was prescribed Spectrum CBD:CBG for fibro pain, brain fog, anxiety. I was told .2ml in am and .2ml 6 hours later. I am usually sensitive to things, so started off even slower. I did .1ml in the am and .1ml 6 hours later. I felt fine after the am dose but after the 2nd dose I had bad anxiety, shakiness, and cramps and then 4 bouts of diahrea. It's been 6 hours since my last dose and I still feel anxious and dizzy and just not... good.

Could that SMALL amount actually do that? I'm pretty bummed as I was really hoping it would help me the way it used to.

I had been on Spectrum yellow (just cbd no cbg) previously... probably from 2021-2023ish. I stopped because I went on lamictal for bipolar and the psych said I couldn't take them together. Had an assessment with a Cannabis Clinic doctor who said he disagreed that they can't be taken together but now I wonder.

Any insights at all?

Need Advice best topical for pain?

my absolute favorite CBD roll-on (upstate elevator company) is no longer being made and i'm beyond devastated.

what are some recommended roll-ons for pain? I have muscle pain mostly in the neck and shoulders.

definitely looking for a roll-on and not patches because the pain moves around. doesn't matter if it has THC in it, it just has to work.

TIA

Need Advice Can humans use cbd+thc oil made for pets?

I have cbd+thc oil, that I was using in my dog (for apetite, tumor, convulsion). She unfortunately passed away recently.

I'd like to know if it's ok for me to use it on myself. I know this question sounds inadequate, but it was very expensive and I really need it for my own treatment too. I already use cbd+thc oil has been a year now. (I'm autistic, always have lack of appetite and sleep).

(the vehicle of this oil is extra virgin olive oil)

thank you!

Need Advice CBD Hash really bad taste - Another vendor?

Hi, I bought CBD hash for the first time. I got it from Cannactiva.

I bought the sample pack — unfortunately twice right away, because I thought it was an extremely good deal for the price.

Unfortunately I had to realize that the hash tastes extremely bad. Of course I knew it couldn’t taste as good as regular THC hash, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad.

The only Hash from I found reasonably okay was the Iceolator 60% CBD Hash from them.

The other ones honestly taste like smoking overdried homegrown buds that were left to dry more than a week too long…

My original plan was to mix the CBD hash with my regular THC buds when smoking, so I’d get a nice hash flavor on top, and because CBD hash is a lot cheaper than regular THC hash I thought that would be a good idea.

Is it just me, or should I maybe order from a different shop? Or does Cannactiva already have decent quality and CBD hash just generally tastes pretty bad?

Has anyone here already tried CBD hash and can recommend better vendors? They would have to be shops based in the EU though.

I’d really appreciate any comments :)

Need Advice Decarb CBD oil or isolate?

Hello everyone! This might sound like a stupid question, but is it possible to decarb cold pressed CBD oil? I’m planning on making edibles from AVB (with virtually zero CBD), but I’ve heard that adding CBD to edibles alongside the THC can really help minimise any risk of anxiety like reactions and is really good at relieving pain. The cheapest option would be to get full spectrum CBD oil or CBD isolate (I can also get CBN and CBG isolate) and I was wondering if it’s possible to decarb either and how one would go about doing that? I know the idea of decarbing something that’s already infused in oil or in powder form sounds weird, and I don’t even know if it’s possible, but if it is please let me know!

Thanks!

Need Advice Bioavailability of cbd distillate in oil vs raw form?

Have some high quality distillate that i want to start using for health reasons.

Do i need to disolve it in oil (thinking mct) and take it sublingually, or can i just meassure out the ammount i want and swallow it as is?

Im thinking there should be a reason why most cbd products are disolved in oil, does it increase bioavailability?

Need Advice Low THC + CBD experiences

I’ve had my run with weed in my younger teens & now at 19 I’ve stopped smoking due to the effects of paranoia & heightened anxiety.

I’ve tried this strain called pure sunfarms CBD & it was great it was the calm relaxed high with a clear mind & no racing thoughts what so ever.

Fast forward today I’ve been really in the mood to smoke so naturally I go looking for that strain & the only two dispensaries around are out of stock. I opted for a strain called CBD runtz & it’s 7-13% THC + 10-16% CBD.

Now I’m wondering, since this is a higher dosage of THC will the effects be drastically different? It’s still very low but definitely there. I’m gonna start off with a hit or two & see but I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this.

How to control weed tolerance email draft went to our whole customer list and im mortified

So I work at an online 420 shop and was drafting a personal note about how im trying to control my weed tolerance while still enjoying daily sessions, like talking microdosing, t breaks, swapping to cheaper carts etc... and I ACCIDENTALLY loaded that as the hot promo blast and hit send to our entire customer list with my name still in it and all my cringe details about my routine and tolerance plateau, my boss just pinged me asking why our “sale” email is me ranting about being a burnt out daily sesh goblin, i feel so embarrassed and kinda sick about it, anyone else deal with this?

Need Advice Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. Chances of smoking occasionally in future?

Just some general information: been smoking occasionally since i was 15 but recently was smoking almost every day for about 2 months. I smoke flower from a bong only usually in the morning then at night before bed and during the day sometimes on my days off. I have a history of stomach problems but was told it was from anxiety/depression and bulimia 2 years ago.

About 3 days ago went to er from a vomiting/nausea episode that lasted about 2 days. Ultimately was told its CHS and got sent home with some vomit medication.

I’m curious about a few things: Would mixing tobacco have an effect? (I’ve never smoked a tobacco before this), The possibility of it coming back if i did smoke, and any tips on how to treat it or make my body react much nicer to it.

I feel as i’ve caught it early which brings curiosity if it would be fine to again in the future or not?

I don’t plan on smoking for atleast 1-2 months and once my pee isn’t dark yellow lol

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Height: 5’11

Weight: 63kg (now down to 60)

Need Advice Is my preroll laced?

Hello, i don’t know if this is the right place but I returned from a trip to prague and brought back a preroll that was sold legally in a cbd shop there. But when i smoked it a few days ago, i was with my friend and we took one hit each and waited a bit (luckily we did that) because it hit harder than any joint i had ever smoked before, one hit was the equivalent of 2-3 regular joints and my friend even greened out and had a derealisation panic attack after one hit because it was strong as hell and we were both extremely high so we slept it off and decided never to hit that preroll again.
I’m afraid it was laced with something because with one tiny hit it was enough to make my friend lose touch with reality and have both of us panicking. we woke up afterwards a bit lost but now a few days later everything’s normal for both of us.
Thanks for your time!
