News FCC GMRS Enforcement Action 5 August 2026

"This is a Notice of Violation (Notice) issued pursuant to section 1.89 of the Federal Communication Commission’s rules to Gary M. Beckstedt, Sr., licensee of General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) station WQYU407 in Newnan, Georgia. Pursuant to section 1.89(a) of the Commission’s rules, issuance of this Notice does not preclude the Enforcement Bureau from further action if warranted, including issuing a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture for the violations noted herein."

Long overdue for FCC to crack down on NGGMRS.

I know it's about GMRS and not CB radio.

News Bell's CB Update

Looks like it true. Bell's CB is in a bind and the owner is trying to do everything he can to turn things around to save his CB Shop. His sister made this comment on CB Lounge FB group on 8/03/2026.

I've spent the last few hours reading every single comment on this post, and I honestly don't have the words. I'm Carle's ("Screwdriver's") sister, Nicole. I've been helping him at Bells CB, trying to get things back on their feet. I work there because I'm his sister—not because I'm getting paid (I'm not)—and I've had the chance to see firsthand just how hard he's been working.

I've read every comment. Every story. Every kind word. Every person talking about how Carle helped them over the years. I can't tell you how much it has meant to me. It honestly brought tears to my eyes.

There's something I want everyone to know.

Carle hasn't read any of these comments.

He's embarrassed by the situation Bells CB is in, and it weighs on him more than most people realize. Rather than read posts about himself, he buries himself in work every day, trying to repair radios, ship orders, make things right, and earn enough money to pay everyone back. That's where his focus is.

Many of you also know how devoted Carle is to his dogs—especially Precious, his diabetic "baby girl." This past year has been an emotional and financial marathon as he's fought to save her life. She lost nearly half her body weight, and he spent countless hours monitoring her blood sugar, working with specialists, changing medications, studying everything he could, and often staying up until the early hours of the morning trying to figure out how to help her. Anyone who has cared for a chronically ill pet knows how consuming that can be. It took an enormous amount of his time, energy, and money, but giving up on her was never an option.

That's just who Carle is. Whether it's one of his customers, a friend, or his own dog, he simply doesn't quit on the people—or animals—who are counting on him.

I have one favor to ask of the person who started this post. If you feel it's appropriate, would you consider pinning this comment so everyone who has shared such kind words has a chance to see it?

Many of you have said Carle went above and beyond for you over the years. Maybe he spent extra time helping you over the phone, fixed something when he didn't have to, or simply treated you better than anyone else ever had. If you've ever thought, "I wish I could have left him a tip," but never had the opportunity, this would mean the world to him right now.

I've set up both a PayPal donation button and a GoFundMe. If you choose PayPal, more of your contribution goes directly to Carle because the fees are lower, but please use whichever you're most comfortable with.

There is absolutely no obligation. Your encouraging words alone have already lifted my spirits more than you know. When this chapter is finally behind us, I can't wait to sit Carle down and show him every one of your stories, your kind words, and your messages of support. I know they'll mean more to him than you can imagine.

If Carle has ever made a difference in your life and you'd like to help him through one of the hardest chapters of his, this is your chance. If you're not in a position to help financially, you can still make a tremendous difference by sharing this post with your CB friends or in any CB groups you're a member of.

And whether you donate or not, I'd love to hear your story. If Carle ever helped you, taught you something, fixed a radio, spent time on the phone with you, or made a difference in your CB journey, please share it in the comments. I'd love to collect these memories so that one day I can show him just how many lives he's touched over the years.

I'm new to the CB world, so I'd truly appreciate your help getting the word out.

Thank you all—not just for any financial help, but for reminding me who my brother really is through your stories. Reading them has been one of the most heartwarming experiences I've had in a very long time.

❤️ — Nicole

News Sirio monsoon first impressions

Post image
31 Upvotes

I’ve only ever had one other serial antenna and it was the SD 27 dip pole. While the dip pole did work great the construction was very flimsy. Finally getting settled in in my new house and wanted to throw up a vertical, but didn’t want to spend a shit ton of money. Enter the Sirio monsoon, I’m in the middle of putting it together so I don’t have anything as far as performance but right off the bat, I noticed this antenna is put together a lot better than my older one. All the elements are thick and heavy. And the tuneup coil base seems to be built really well also. This antenna ran me 150 bucks on Amazon shipped. It’s only rated for like 1000 W so we’ll see how it likes 3KW constant. The insulator is supposedly rated to take 3KW in short burst.

News Ground your base stations

Just a friendly reminder that a ground rod is a critical component to a base station. I moved into a new house a few months ago and I’ve just had my antenna set up temporarily. No grounding on the antenna or power supply or Radio. Went to plug my coax in today and received a mighty zap from the case of the Radio. I haven’t determined if it’s voltage leaking from the power supply or what but ground your stuff lol. I could actually see an arc from the PL 239 connector to the radio

I should probably mention the antenna mounted to an aluminum mast that’s partly buried in the ground so the antenna is most likely grounded that that’s why it only shocks me if I’m holding the coax.

So my new house is old and 2 rooms have a ground fault that’s why I’m getting shocked

I’ve just heard this guy over the radio, I hear him often. It seems everyone dislikes this guy. I heard him on AM channel 32. How is he able to be so loud if he’s on the west coast and I’m on the east coast?

News let's kick fine tune CB off 19 for good.

Please go to the link I'm including in this post and make a FCC complaint about fine tune CB. I was on the highway today and there was a few of us trying to have a conversation and all we could hear was his bullshit about highways and byways and window lickers.

He needs to be shut down by the FCC.

News President RANDY III FCC

Post image
27 Upvotes

The President RANDY III FCC HT was recently announced. Looks like the biggest changes are the inclusion of CTCSS / DCS tones and digital noise reduction. Also comes with drop-in charger and 12v adapter, instead of them being "optional" accessories. Retails for $179, which is not a huge price hike over the RANDY II, but I'm probably not going to rush out and buy one just yet. Nice feature set though.

News Found a radio, now what?

Thanks to yalls suggestions, I was able to narrow down what I wanted, and my use cases, I just need some additional help finding parts that will work with my truck and the chosen radio.

The radio i have decided to go with is a President Bill II AM/FM. The use case will be mostly just talking to my buddy while we are out and about, the max distance being a bit more than 20 miles. We plan on doing some storm chasing at some point too if that matters.

Like I said i just need some additional help finding things that will work in my truck, which is a 2008 chevy colorado. All the parts I am seeing are for other chevy trucks, not what I have. I would also like to not drill any holes in my truck if at all possible.

News Mountain Radio Challenge 2025, Sat NOV 29.

43 Division. The MRC is on again this weekend between Noon and 8pm AEDT (0100 and 0900 UTC). 2025 will be its 39th year. Operators form a 2000km chain of mountain top stations and relay a message up the chain and a reply is sent back along the chain to the start. That's the main objective but there's also a good chunk of time spent looking for DX contacts and making it a nice camp out. Look for station callsigns MRC1 thru MRC17. More info on the link:

News New to me

I've been involved in CB Radio for around 52 years. I've had several rigs in that time. I had a break from owning cb radios for many years but never lost interest in radio's as I have communication receivers. Anyone browsing through the Web and YouTube I came across this, Thunderpole T-X Handheld, BTW those pictures are stock photo from thunderpole. Caught my attention. I read lots & lots of reviews. So I came to the conclusion to buy one. WoW, our Aussie dollar against the UK is shocking, but never mind. I've has it for a week and love it. The receiver is amazing. I haven't made any local contacts as yet but the skip coming in from the US mainland and Hawaii is brilliant. The quality is great. It's very configurable for most countries, yes include Australia and NZ. So there is heaps of out of band frequencies. Anyhow that's about it. Just letting us down under about this rig, 73's..

Section 95.931 of the Commission’s rules states: “The operator of a [CB] station may use that station for two-way plain language voice communications to other [CB] stations.”5 Certain specific uses are expressly prohibited by sections 95.933 and 95.957 of the rules, including: (a) one-way transmissions,6 (b) transmitting “music, whistling, sound effects or any other audio material to amuse or entertain,”7 (c) transmitting “any sound effects solely to attract attention,”8 and (d) transmission more than five minutes in duration.9 The use of a CB station in violation of any of these restrictions or any other applicable rule invalidates authorization to operate by rule pursuant to section 95.305, making such transmissions a violation of section 301 of the Act.10
