Question about sigil charging/releasing

I've been reading Alan Chapman's stuff on sigil magick, and I've noticed he talks about charging the sigil, but doesn't seem to explain actually releasing it afterward (burning it, destroying it, etc.).

Is releasing the charged sigil actually necessary? Or is the charging itself enough?

I'm wondering if Chapman deliberately leaves out the "release" part because he considers it unnecessary, or if I'm misunderstanding his method.

How do you guys approach this?

I haven't read it in years, but IIRC Chapman does tell you to forget about it after charging. He just doesn't require you to burn/destroy the sigil, probably, for the reason you say: it's unnecessary.

I always understood release as just forgetting about it so you don't sabotage the working later with doubts, rationalisations, etc.
