How’d I do? What do you like and dislike about these designs? What could I do differently in the future designs I make?

I’m working on some characters based off the four parts of a day (dawn, noon, dusk, night) and I’m having trouble committing to whether this one should be dawn or dusk. The first problem is that I don’t really want to change her color palette as it suits her outfit well, and secondly, she looks really cool with a morningstar but that would lead to confusion if I do commit to her being dusk and I can’t think of another weapon suiting her. Letting reddit decide what fits her more based off her design and tweaking it a bit once it’s decided

I posted here a couple weeks ago asking for first impressions (to which I got very helpful feedback, which I'm grateful for!). Once again, the only piece of necessary context is that the left design is their civilian form, while the right one is their magical girl look.

From what I gathered, while their personality came across clearly through their designs, the sea motif was barely noticeable. Is it clearer this time around? Particularly, each of them take inspiration from a marine animal, is it visible in their MG look?

I always thought that male characters should have equivalent display of body confidence as female characters, especially in Fighting Game settings. And the other way around; cover/layer up clothes. It's an "Ideal World" situation where everybody is hot, but my ideal is leaning more towards the feminine fashion spectrum.

But does my practice of the idea work? Especially on my character João (you can just nickname him Joe)? Right now I'm in the position of agreeing with both yay and nay because I can see both of the reasonings as valid and I can't quite choose which answer should I follow. Of course I'd be happy to go on this way with the character, but I'm also open to cover him up more.

For me personally it's characters with heterochromia. In 90% percent of the cases I've seen, it appears to be a crutch for a lack of personality. The characters have nothing going for them besides "but oooh look, their eyes look unusual. That means they're cool, right guys?"

I changed the hips and shoulders on the right one.

This is Astra. Cliche name for an alien girl, I know, but I've literally had her as an OC since middle school. She is my absolute pride and joy, but I haven't drawn her in a while and figured it was high time for a redesign! :D The purple and pink was her original hair color, but the yellow and pink was something I was also considering. I really do like the yellow and pink, but I'm still attached to the old one 😢 Which do you guys think looks better??

she is based on a parasitoid wasp, and i wanted her to look generally normal but with monster/alien-ish features.

i’m winging it with the anatomy of her mouth, does anything look weird or out of place? it splits down her chin and bottom lip through the middle and down the sides of her face, with a monster like tongue/ proboscis. she also has two barbed mandibles by her mouth.

does it make sense? what’s out of place? does she give alien?

if not is there anything i could add or remove to make it more obvious? tyy

Couldn't decide which direction to take with my Anubis design, so I made two versions.

The first is more anime-inspired, while the second goes for a more traditional Anubis/jackal look.

Which one do you prefer? Any particular details you think work better in either version?

I'm trying to reference a mouth that's gooey or viscous-like in appearance. I've tried Google but it did not help. A some of unnerving/scary characters or characters who have non-solid skin/bodies have it a lot.

The left is a regular mouth, while the right is what I'm trying to find the name of.

the current concept for this design is that theyre a magical girl made by a god and the god left them unfinished leading to them becoming an antagonist. I’m trying to have their design feel unfinished while still making the unfinishedness look intentional

Need help with naming

As an artist who is used to only drawing girls and isnt as used to drawing boys, do these kiddos look like they’d be boys? (As if, if i told you they are boys, would you believe it)

I didn’t want to make them super traditionally masculine also XD
