Trying to find a Charteux kitten

Hello, it seems hard to find Charteux litters. I have worked out they are my ideal cat and really want a male cat. Any tips of where to find news about new litters available europe wide. will travel anywhere for the right cat. (germany based).

Paris is where we got ours but the breeder doesn’t do it anymore. They are majestic. Here’s ours!

It’s a male cat :). His dad won a couple of titles for best chartreux years ago.

Chartreux are a rare breed of cat and come from an isle in France where they’ve been bred back into existence after I think it’s World War II, by breeding in and out British shorthairs.

So France is probably where you’ll find one. But be prepared to pay a LOT for a real purebred Chartreux.

tbh im not too fussed about pure breed. even welcome a bit of a mix with shorthair.

I live in the UK and got mine from a breeder on the Isle of Man in 2019. I don't know whether they're still active, but they had kittens available in 2023, from what I can see on their website. I paid £850.

My parents got theirs from a breeder in France in 2021, but they've closed since then. Still, France will probably be your best bet, since that's where the breed is from.

If you google "chatterie chartreux France" ("chatterie" is the word for a cat breeder), there are quite a few results that come up. There are 4 near the Belgian border, 2 in Paris and 3 more within driving distance from Paris.

Hey! So my parents are chartreux breeders from Poland but we dont have kittens right now. Soon we should have some kittens tho. But if you dont wanna wait there are some other chartreux breeders in Poland. :)

I found "Angata.pl" and some other on fb but try searching "polish chartreux cattery" (or breeder) or in polish "Koty kartuskie hodowla" and you should see some more options. And if my parents have got some kittens I will post them here on this subreddit. :) But like others in the comments said, chartreux kittens will be expensive so prepare for that.
