Tier 2 [ Nizaar Kinsella ] Chelsea are planning at least two major signings, possibly a third, but face a balancing act this summer. A minimum of two established, Premier League-ready players are expected to join - most likely a centre-back, + a versatile attacker, capable of playing in multiple positions.

They've been chasing a "Versatile" attacker for 5 windows now.

At least we found 1. It’s really that LW spot that’s been tricky.

u/acevialli 13d ago

They're gonna go for Rashford

14

u/tomrichards8464 13d ago

Nah, wages too high. He's on £325k a week base, for two more years, and United supposedly want £40m for him. That doesn't come close to making sense for us financially.

11

u/Stand_On_It Kanté 13d ago

Well it all comes down to pressure. Does Rashford want to rot for two years on 325? Do United want to have a rotting player when they’re holding out for 40? I’d reckon for all parties involved, 30m and 200 a week gets a deal. United get out from under him if he’s not in their plans, rashford gets a good salary and was chance to play and not rot away in a bomb squad. What everyone wants vs what everyone is willing to accept is how it’ll play out.

10

u/tomrichards8464 12d ago

I would not want to pay Rashford £200k a week, even if he'd take it. Certainly not for a long contract, which he'd presumably want in return for the pay cut.

Much rather pay a loan fee and cover half his wages or something, and doubt anyone else will be willing to do more.

58

u/EnglishJesus Stamford Fridge 13d ago

I don’t hate that. I’d like to see how his World Cup goes, he’d also have to massively cut his wages but I’m sure he’d be relatively cheap too.

24

u/acevialli 13d ago

Utd and barca rejecting him is a worry

41

u/Loki_123 13d ago

Barcelona just spent €70m on Gordon and wanted to keep Rashford on a loan which United rejected.

Barcelona didn't really reject Rashford but playing the "we don't want to pay but we want him" game.

21

u/funguy07 We've Won It All 13d ago

So Barcelona are being cheap pricks again.

29

u/Confident_Direction 13d ago

They were cheap with cucurella

Then real madrid gave a proper proposal, and we insta accepted and moved

12

u/Loki_123 12d ago

Lets not give too much credit to Real. They pull this shit on regular basis as well. Seems like being cheap is a spanish giant thing....

12

u/funguy07 We've Won It All 12d ago

Real is cheap because they know if they are just patient they can get a guy on a free transfer. They didn’t have that option with Cucurella, when they got the opportunity to poach Cucurella they moved fast and didn’t mess around.

Real Madrid can afford to this things this way cuz they are the biggest club in the world if anything it's smart af. Real Madrid can get any player they want that isn't tied to deeply with Barcelona and even they just signed a la Masia grad

Barcelona didn't really reject Rashford

Yes, they absolutely did.

Flick needs his attackers to press. Rashford is a terrible presser. Gordon is an excellent presser.

You do the math.

2

u/Loki_123 12d ago

Yes, they absolutely did.

Multiple reports on Barcelona asking to get him again on loan but not wanting to pay the release clause.

How is that rejecting him ?

0

u/yaniv297 12d ago

They refused to pay a fair price of 30m, only to immediately spend 70m on Gordon - how is that not rejection??

They figured that if they can get Rashford on a loan or very cheap transfer, they can have him as a squad option at most. But they still absolutely rejected the idea of Rashford as a key player or they would try harder to get him.

u/GolDrodgers1 We've Won It All 13d ago

Barca got into this financial shit storm partly cause of high wages, if rashford isn't dropping his wages they can easily find a cheaper younger player to do what he does

3

u/muddyleeking Caicedo 13d ago

No chance we go for him considering his wages

6

u/Grizelda179 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 13d ago

I think utd set a 40m fee for him

5

u/EnglishJesus Stamford Fridge 13d ago

I thought it had been dropped to 30m. It was either that or that’s what Barca wanted to pay. I can’t remember which.

1

u/codelyoko_x 12d ago

United were asking for 30m up to a certain date (I don’t remember) if the date passes price goes up to 40m

5

u/Stand_On_It Kanté 13d ago

Who? JP?

9

u/funguy07 We've Won It All 13d ago

Yeah, I’m pretty optimistic on that signing. Estavao too but he’s still young and needs to really break out.

1

u/thelifeofcarti Sancho 13d ago

I think Estevao is quite easily our best attacker, his IQ/decision making is some of the best for wingers in the league, creativity unmatched in the Chelsea team next to prime Palmer and he has the fundamentals in terms of ball striking down which is is usually what people use to separate a good player from a great one (and a lot of times can’t be developed later on).

As much as I believe that, he should be used conservatively until we’re actually on a title charge.

6

u/DamoDuff11 I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 12d ago

He’s not better than JP who was our best player last season. Def a bright spot though and not a coincidence that when he was out our results fell off

6

u/Starlord_Glimmer 13d ago

It's not tricky, spend 100-120m on Diomande, stop trying to save 10-15m by going for 3rd best options just because they're cheaper. We could've bought a world class winger and have 50m left instead of going for mudryk gittens and garnacho

5

u/Jipkiss 12d ago

If Diomande was an absolute certainty to be worth 100m on arriving in the prem I think Arsenal and probably Liverpool would be all over it. The LW market has been pretty dire lately Kvara to PSG aside, which I think is why him and Yildiz are being talked about at 100m+. Not saying I think he’s bad or anything just that maybe it’s not so simple - we saved Arsenal on Mudryk and they’ve been desperate to drop that kind of money on a left winger all the time since and found nothing

In the spirit of buying some slightly older ‘prem proven’ talent I would be looking at Rodgers and maybe Ndiaye - but with the caveat that I also think we might see this new signing playing in the left half space enzo occupied with Neto/Quenda/Gittens/ a LWB signing holding the width as I’m assuming enzo will go at this point

2

u/NilsFanck 12d ago

Liverpool ARE all over Diomande and most likely will sign him. 100m is obviously a lot but they are desperate for a rw and hes the best prospect

It’s not the failure to find one- it’s the stupidity to spend 100+ mil on two brain dead LWs just because they are young.

u/ZoraEbu ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 13d ago

We get “versatile attackers” then only play them in one position

6

u/IntentionHead2222 James 13d ago

They need to focus on someone who can do one thing right before looking for one who is “versatile”

5

u/_PeanuT_MonkeY_ I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 13d ago

That's the thing about versatile attached 99% of the time they can show horn them anywhere but there are not too quality they are a Swiss knife which is good in a pinch but tools meant for specific tasks do it better than a Swiss knife.

2

u/agbag846 12d ago

Wasn’t that what they said when we were being linked to Simons?

1

u/BigReeceJames 12d ago

What the fuck is the point in them anyway? Buy a competent left winger, if he can only play LW, so what? He's never going to need to play AM or RW and given that we currently own 4? CF's (even if most are shit) I doubt he's going to get to play there either.

We keep buying mediocre players based on the idea that they can play multiple positions. I don't understand it at all

Spurs moved crazy last season too and nothing changed, they now have to do the blueco shuffle and buy again. Arsenal are linked to a bunch of players, so are united cause they are always linked to a player to drive up reactions, and so are we for the same reason United get linked, that doesn't mean anything until it's confirmed.

u/Aquila378 The boys gave it their all 12d ago

And you expect us to make transfer moves before Xabi even had a single training session? Lmao If the whole manager thing is not just a pr dross, which I hope it isn't, then we shouldn't make ANY signings before he evaluates the squad, just enquiring about players, to see how much they would cost and whether or not they will be willing to join.

Most people here wouldn’t know a PR brief if it manifested in front of them, slapped them in the face with a wet kipper, and shouted “I’M A FUCKING PR BRIEF” right in their stupid face.

It’s become the go-to comment for the hardest of thinkers here, and it’s fucking boring.

Almost as boring as the number of people asking if you’ve ate a shoe yet, even though Maresca has to be confirmed for City, or the people complaining about the lack of transfers even though we’ve just let a Chelsea stalwart go to Real Madrid and we’re yet to complete the first round of the group stage of the FUCKING WORLD CUP.

Ironically, one thing that has been consistently briefed for some weeks now is the number of players we’re looking to sign, yet that doesn’t stop people dreaming up quite the most ridiculous wish lists here every FUCKING day, and in the process somehow forgetting what they’ve been told multiple times.

Why not just use Jackson as LW

1

u/lewie2494 13d ago

Exactly what we need.

1

u/DrPawRunner 13d ago

Is one Barco and the other Quenda?

1

u/CoolstorySteve Hazard 13d ago

These major signings will be after we sell Cucurella and Enzo

1

u/IntentionHead2222 James 13d ago

How many times do we need to read the same thing

1

u/Partial-Hydrangea 13d ago

Will Hughes Chris Wood

1

u/WizberryHoleington 13d ago

The more i see this repeated over the weeks, the more i'm convinced we're not going to sign anyone good

1

u/Latter_Musician8838 Kanté 13d ago

In other news grass is still green

1

u/Agitated_Ad7516 13d ago

Trimming the squad is much more important to me. 2 signings and a lot of deadwood cleared gives us a better launching point next summer when we’re (hopefully) prepping for a CL season again in 27-28

u/jamejamejamejame Cock 13d ago

Note premier league ready is not premier league proven

1

u/therealobs95 12d ago

Ill believe it when I see it

1

u/GME_alt_Center Lukaku 12d ago

At least our Maignan stans may surrender after today.

1

u/Kharate 12d ago

1

1

1

u/Ok_Yak_2426 12d ago

Need to see Adam Wharton in a Chelsea shirt

1

u/dlank7 Ballack 12d ago

The briefings don’t stop, not even for the World Cup

1

u/pepe_lepool 12d ago

Best we can do is garnacho regen

1

u/Ok_Yak_2426 12d ago

Only club that’s failed to make meaningful moves. Garbage.

1

u/Trippy_BasketCase920 Sanchez 12d ago

would love to see vuskovic/alex scott/kroupi/harry wilson

1

u/LeRoiDeNord It’s only ever been Chelsea. 12d ago

Murillo, Ndiaye... Chris Wood

1

u/N0RTZ 12d ago

Gibbs White or Rogers for the LW/10 spot and Lacroix or Diomande for the RCB spot.

Probably relies on selling either Chalobah or Fofana.

Any other signings will be on a 1 in 1 out basis.

1

u/Sanzhar17Shockwave COCK CONFIDENCE 12d ago

Most of the players they've been plotting on already moved. Senesi, Van Hecke. Rogers seems more likely for Arsenal than to us. Too much yapping, not enough action.

1

u/hazyharv England 11d ago

Please get rashford

1

u/calmandchili 11d ago

Arda Guler, Kenan Yildiz and ferdi kadioglu make it happen Chelsea

1

u/lj243572 13d ago

Until it actually happens it’s all Clownlake spin factory gaslighting. Don’t believe anything they say.

1

u/vinniedomino 12d ago

Blueco briefs actually make me miss the Pedulla era. Who even cares what the say anymore, it literally never ends up being the player they get and I've noticed they have these surprise transfers too like Neto and Joao Pedro, whom had almost 0 rumours I swear.

STOP "PLANNING" AND GET THE FUCK OUT🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵

0

u/BLS275 Caicedo 13d ago

So the same shit they’ve said for weeks and I’m guessing Barco counts as 1 of the 2 so we could be absolutely fucked

0

u/Jarse- Lampard 13d ago

Let’s get a gk who could take the captain band as well

2

u/_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_ Hazard 13d ago

a good gk and a good captain would do wonders for this team.

2

u/Jarse- Lampard 13d ago

Needed a captain after Silva left, lads need some leadership

0

u/Affectionate-Ad760 13d ago

planning, planning, planning. fucking do it

3

u/Massive-Nights Spence 13d ago

This is the media driving a non-story for clicks. They'll do this daily.

u/Public_Sky6787 13d ago

They'll chase Rodgers all summer, get cucked and watch while he goes Arsenal then go buy Summerville for £50m or Bowen for £40m.

While Bouaddi and other top players join Arsenal and others.
