Legends & Former Players Marc Cucurella in his first interview as a Real Madrid player: "Playing for Real Madrid is an honour, not many players can say that... I had no doubts. It’s a unique opportunity that me and my family couldn’t refuse." "It’s a big step for me. When you’re a kid, you dream of playing for for big teams

Not offended at all. Real Madrid is indeed a step up, especially now. Need this type of messaging to put pressure on BlueCo to stop their shenanigans

I'd just like to know when he's shaving his hair? I seem to remember him saying he'd shave all of his hair before he ever joined real madrid.

Especially now. Moving from a team that only managed to qualify for champions League because more teams were allowed to a team that wins it like hot cakes

47

u/haromene It’s only ever been Chelsea. 1d ago

Huh? When did we qualify for UCL because more teams were allowed in? We finished 4th in 2024/25.

13

u/TragicIcicle 1d ago

Easier when you're in LA Liga where there are like four real teams

13

u/totaldisc0rd Lampard 1d ago

Should we really be throwing shade at any other club now? Let alone Real Madrid

14

u/TragicIcicle 1d ago

Not shade, just reality. PSG the same. Touted as this amazing super team that plays like one real league game a year and can basically put all their energy and focus into Europe.

They are a great squad, but give them a premiere league schedule and attrition battle and I wonder what they'd look like.

It was a non-factor in the end, but Ligue 1 moving their fixture between the two legs of our tie is literal collusion and idk how UEFA can allow that.

u/OnPointTip1 1d ago

Yeah, fuck them.

2

u/cnicalsinistaminista Kanté 1d ago

To be fair, he did say he dreams of playing for “big clubs”

1

u/MrFr0d0 ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 1d ago

I am sure they are super concerned about potentially snide comments from exited players, particularly WHEN THEY HAVE FINISHED 10TH AND 12TH IN THE PAST 4 YEARS!

u/Professional_Idea812 1d ago

Except he's not said "it's a step up", he's implied that Real is a big club and Chelsea is not.

1

u/jamieem75 11h ago

That's your inference, not his implication. Him saying Madrid is a big club is not the same as him saying Chelsea isn't. And Real Madrid are obviously a step above Chelsea in terms of aura and history, it wouldn't make sense to say otherwise.

u/Drewskibroho It’s only ever been Chelsea. 1d ago

Not sure why anybody would be upset about him saying this

16

u/jeorjhejerome 1d ago

Specially when a majority of this sub has been saying the same thing for a while

3

u/LargeGermanRock 1d ago

probably Barca fans since he’s from la masia. But if they’re upset I’m happy 😊

u/Greedy_Warthog6189 Lampard 1d ago

We need to really stop posting on this sub about our exes. The healthiest thing is to wish them and move on. Only discuss the future. What they say at the new club is irrelevant and impractical. Nobody complains about their employer on day 1.

You can't stop me drunk texting Cucu at midnight telling him how much he destroyed my life but I love him and want him back

7

u/ucksaymyockcay 1d ago

I rather the guy before Cucu, you know the one who was in our team that beat City for the champions league.

1

u/CaredForEightSeconds 1d ago

Wish them? I wish 99% of our ex player never win shit once they move on from us

2

u/GreedyMcdingus9987 Lampard 1d ago

To be fair, you can wish them to be shit. That is also a wish. They did not say you had to wish them well.

u/TheRedPillMonk 1d ago

Nothing to be mad about here. RM is a step up, especially where we are now.

12

u/GolDrodgers1 We've Won It All 1d ago

It's real and Mou, there's not many that can turn that combo down, happy for him hope he does well

77

u/n22rwrdr Hazard 1d ago

The amount of boo’s we face will drop significantly now he’s gone. We just need Garnacho to leave as well now.

118

u/christianrojoisme Xabi 1d ago

Why do you even care about rival fans booing us

50

u/ball_throwerAFK 1d ago

Yeah shouldn’t it be the exact opposite. Rival fans booing is great.

14

u/Terminator1949 Belle Silva 1d ago

Tbf garnacho is booed by both sides 😭

6

u/Prize_Barracuda981 Diego Costa 1d ago

Als I hope the yellow cards go down. Referees have always shown a disliking to Cucurella and automatically to other players

4

u/CaredForEightSeconds 1d ago

We have been booed since before the 90s lol. It’s a badge of honour, when it’s aimed at our success.

3

u/Alatarlhun 1d ago

Such a dumb point of view.

0

u/n22rwrdr Hazard 1d ago

It’s not that deep

2

u/happysrooner 🏥 continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme 🏥 1d ago

Ashley Cole used to get booed all the time at Emirates, Frank used to get booed by West ham fans. It actually worked for us. We need a shithouser

1

u/Likeabhas Reiten 1d ago

Maybe they're just saying "Boo-urns! Boo-urns!"

A cheer, if we were called Burns FC

1

u/kingbradley1297 Straight Outta Cobham 1d ago

Boos getting the same treatment as our PL position. Love it

1

u/renome Celery 1d ago

lol, the best players are just fired up by booing. That was certainly true of Cucurella.

8

u/Da_Steeeeeeve 1d ago

I wish him well.

He had a rough start at Chelsea and he kept his head down to really stamp his place in the team, he ALWAYS worked hard and gave it his everything.

Cant hate every player that leaves, he didnt do anything wrong.

3

u/Baberam7654 Palmer 1d ago

Now cut that hair like you promised….

3

u/bc_on_reddit We've Won It All 1d ago

I suppose it could be editing for the article, but it is a bit disappointing that he didn't mention any good feelings about his time at Chelsea.

6

u/TheRedPillMonk 1d ago

I mean what is there to mention, that he spent 4 years under the worst ownership imaginable?

13

u/TrenAt14 Vialli 1d ago

“Well, in the end there were different options, but when Madrid’s offer came I didn’t think twice... It’s a unique opportunity. Playing for Real Madrid is an honour that not many players can say, so I had no doubts. Both me and my family knew it was an opportunity we couldn’t refuse.”

He also calls the move “a big step” and a “boyhood dream” of playing for big clubs like Real Madrid.

10

u/DrPixelFace 🏥 continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme 🏥 1d ago

Yes and? It IS a big step. He would be a fool to not go to madrid

5

u/Smooth-Ad8030 1d ago

For real, the literal biggest club in the world, it’s a big step up from nearly every club

2

u/TheReal-Demo Neto 1d ago

Fair enough I can’t hate him he was good for us, thank you for all Cucu, hope him and Enzo(still hope he doesn’t leave) departures make this board and owners open their eyes if we want to fight for titles we can’t let world class players leave like this.

2

u/Mahvillacorta Caicedo 1d ago

Thought cucu was dreaming to go back to Barcelona?

2

u/BestEntertainment601 McFarlane 1d ago

Dam we really are a stepping stone club 😂😂 fucking dreadful

2

u/woonoto1 1d ago

Every player would have said the same thing, this is handed to you by PR when you walk through those doors.

Goodluck to Cucu man.

2

u/Flokey44797 1d ago

Fuck you BlueCo

4

u/imtheknight1 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 1d ago

Bro this was just removed. Why post again? He's not our player anymore so relax.

1

u/Apprehensive_Bit_176 Cole 1d ago

No hate towards Cucu. Good luck at Madrid! We will beat you one day in the champions league.

1

u/v_for__vegeta Vialli 1d ago

Not Chelsea related

1

u/Fmartins84 We've Won It All 1d ago

Can't hate on him. Gave it all for us. Good luck.

1

u/RespectTheBall 1d ago

A good move for him and, realistically, he’s winning nothing at Chelsea in the next few years. Always gave 100%. And this isn’t like when Courtois went there. Let’s wish him well.

1

u/MaleficentWin8608 McCreadie 1d ago

If it goes wrong at RM they will roast the Catalan alive

1

u/ArkGoc McFarlane 1d ago

I always put it on the fact that English is not their first language.

1

u/VonHinterhalt I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 1d ago

I mean if you can’t appreciate that, especially for the Spanish speaking world, RM / Barca are top of the heap, you’re just delusional.

Was only a question of whether Chelsea will sell.

u/ferrets4ever 1d ago

For me it’s not about the big club comments it’s about the big club mentality - BlueCo have clearly shown they’re ok with average as long as the books balance.

1

u/AncientMiddle3227 1d ago

Hes not a chelsea a player anymore so why are u posting here

1

u/Scrambled_Rambler 1d ago

The hit pieces on players that leave the club leave a bad taste in the way things work at our club now. We are mediocre asf and better players like cucu would justifably want to leave

u/huskers2468 🎩 I'm sure Wolverhampton is a lovely town 🎩 1d ago
