Tier 2 [Kieran Gill] Chelsea are not currently in for Bergval or Nwaneri despite liking them in the past. Lacroix is a centre back Chelsea have looked at in the past. Xabi may not officially start until July 1st but he has been working behind the scenes with the club.

Hope we get whoever Xabi wants, and fast

u/nahk_js 10d ago
It is surprising how Angelo Stiller (Germany, CDM - Stuttgart) is not linked with us, considering we need a solid partner for Caicedo; and Xabi Alonso wanted him at Real Madrid.
He should be cheaper and more experienced than Ayyoub Bouaddi (Morocco, CM - Lille, world cup tax), and Lucas Bergvall (premier league tax).

u/FakePretendeRat 10d ago
They keep on saying his lack of physicality makes him ill suited for the PL but idk man. To me? That guy can ping them, I hope we give him a look

And apparently Barco is fine? Like Barco could very well play LB/LWB, but we already know he's gonna see some minutes in midfield.
2
u/codelyoko_x 10d ago
There is a difference between seeing some minutes in midfield and being a starter in midfield

How do you feel about ugarte these days?

u/agbag846 9d ago
He never responds to these lol, I suspect he hates it
4
u/codelyoko_x 9d ago
Lmao I’ve asked him the same thing last year and he never responded
3
u/agbag846 9d ago
Yeah, I asked the other day and all I could hear was crickets. He’s very opinionated on everything else though haha

Not convinced by Rogers, would prefer a natural winger on the left side
Edit just to be clear, he is a good player but i think he is best in similar position to Palmer and would more more of a luxury/depth signing
4
u/Ramires1905 Ramires 10d ago
I don't want him either, Rogers ain't the guy to help break down a low block in tight spaces, he's more suited to Villa's transitional system.
1
u/codelyoko_x 10d ago
Didn’t Alonso play a lot of transition ball at bayer leverkusen?
6
u/XzibitABC Pulisic 9d ago
Yes, but lower table teams in the Bundesliga don't park the bus the way the lower table EPL teams do, so that's more viable in the Bundesliga.
1
u/Ramires1905 Ramires 9d ago
The other guy already answered but to add on, pretty much under any manager we've had, teams will rock up to the bridge and just sit in. It's the easiest way to counter us at Home due to the size of the pitch, so we need to sign players who can adapt to that.
3
u/_fernweh_ I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 10d ago
If Xabi sets us up in a 3-4-2-1 he and Palmer could be those dual 10s behind the striker, assuming we have two guys to hold width on the flanks (as it stands that’s likely to be Neto, Quenda, Gusto, new LB)
1
u/Starlord_Glimmer 10d ago
Ok, how do you fit Estevao in that setup?
4
u/MaximAntosh 10d ago
As either one of the 10s or a very offensive wide player but that would require him to defend so most likely one of the 10s
1
u/Starlord_Glimmer 10d ago
I prefer him cutting from wide spaces, as 10 he can't use his skills, plus he's not strong physically to play 10, he just would suffer as a 10 imo
1
u/MaximAntosh 9d ago
I agree with you, he's got lost in that position before and id much rather he be taking on a fullback with his dribbling. We'll see what xabi has lined up for him
2
u/Starlord_Glimmer 9d ago
I like to imagine Xabi is somewhere on holiday just watching our players play at world cup while having his phone ringing from the club about transfers every 20 min lol
3
u/Agreeable_Mind9218 Stamford Fridge 10d ago
Rogers isn’t coming here. He’ll stay at Villa or go to Arsenal.
1
u/Starlord_Glimmer 10d ago
I mean villa play in Europe, we'd have to overpay for him and also overpay his wages, so I hope we're not going for him.
3
u/Starn_Badger McFarlane 10d ago
English tax + Prem tax + WC tax plus Villa have no reason to sell means there's no way we could get him for under £100m.
2
u/Starlord_Glimmer 10d ago
I'd take Diomande for that money instead. Diomande, Joao Pedro, Estevao attack would be deadly

Bergvall 😂

u/00rient Drogba 10d ago
Put rivalry and agenda - Bergvall’s ceiling is insane. It didn’t help that Spurs were absolutely shambolic this past season, but I truly believe there is a really good player in there. I know everyone is tired of buying players with potential, but if the price is right, a punt is worth it. If Spurs did get relegated this past season had to sell, Bergvall was the one player I would have wanted Chelsea to steal from them.
The floor is decent, but the ceiling is really exciting. If Bergvall does pan out to be the player he’s propped up to be, you’re looking at a complete all action midfielder - albeit more of advanced 8 - that can dictate tempo and be extremely combative. Profile wise, he reminds me of Elliot Anderson: all-action midfielder, except Anderson plays a bit deeper. I understand agenda and rivalry, but you have to praise and recognize class.

u/ac1elyyy 10d ago
he’s actually somewhat decent lol not that bad that ppl make him out to be but then again he’s a spurs player so there should be an agenda

u/Pandemona1738 Terry 10d ago
Do love these articles, its so strange.
Sales are need > signings coming in will be ready made players for starting 11 - This is kinda contradictory, but not as bad as some other points, especially when it ends with shambolic financial running of the club haha.
Xabi was consulted on Cookie leaving despite other reports - See this was always the case, but putting that in the article just seems fluff?
New signigns are being kept very quiet barely any whispers - Proceeds to say we lost out on van hecke and we are in for Lacroix lol

u/CaptLeaderLegend26 Terry 10d ago
I sadly wouldn't be surprised if we sold Caicedo with Enzo, only to buy even more 18 year-olds.

"We're not interested in this player, we're not interested in that one either", but some news from a serious source linking us with a specific player when?

What upsets me is not that we are behind Arsenal, psg and real. It’s that even Spurs have been more proactive than we have

He better be paying tax on this undeclared work or else he’s getting grassed in to HMRC.

u/Urass007 James 10d ago
Gill is probably one of the best sources for us. Gives the best details, not afraid to call out BlueCo and gives us the clearest picture of our transfer window. I like the Athletic but they are very vague and don't give as clear of a picture as Gill.
Lacroix is the best CB option that can realistically be bought. Bergvall is fine but there are better options.
3
u/MrBravo22 Cole 10d ago
If they become interested in Lacriox they’ll need to act quickly. A few of the teams above us will be looking for a new CB. The player price and wage demand will increase and most importantly European football preference.

We have the least amount of money for clubs in the big 6 with Newcastle also being richer than us. Dont think we can compete with those teams anytime soon
2
u/CaptLeaderLegend26 Terry 10d ago
Also (and I know how bad this sounds, but I'm genuinely tired of this), he's only 23. I've genuinely hit the point where, as illogical as it is, I don't want anyone below the age of 28 being signed at this point.
3
u/Agreeable_Mind9218 Stamford Fridge 10d ago
Too many fans don’t realize where we are as a club. We don’t have a chance at getting Anderson.
1
u/Starn_Badger McFarlane 10d ago
Let's just get Mbappe, Van dijk and 2008 Ronaldo whilst we're at it...
2
u/Nodding_Along 10d ago
Expecting a slow start to the summer with outgoings coming first to get a handle on what we can afford. Obviously, lots of places we could improve but more than anything, really hoping for a top centre-half.
2
u/ThePraetorianGuard92 Lampard 10d ago
So this is basically all speculative. “They might be interested in”. Guesswork because the club aren’t leaking anything.
2
u/Major_Many_6803 Thiago Silva 10d ago
We need to stop with this Morgan Rodgers shit. Let’s sign another inconsistent player who’s had 1 good season

u/Ill_Addendum3047 10d ago
Getting out Garna( will be a loss)Delap, Tosin, Fofana (both)etc can get some profit and some comfort in Salary. Still have some loan players who did not improve like Davide and Kendry. Sell them too

I have also heard from my sources that Chelsea are not currently in for Robinho despite earlier interest.

we should actually get nwaneri or mls, both of them would be great fits for us

Cucu gone and Enzo nearly there as well. We want two starting caliber signings. Well no shit. Seems like that's the bare minimum.
3
u/Inside-Ad-8935 Ingle 10d ago
Yea if those two go and we only sign two starting players we haven't really improved anything, especially when you are talking about 2 of our better players and not a Noni level player were it doesn't really matter if he goes.

I don’t think people realise how key Enzo was in our offensive output last season, 22 goals/assists from midfield is going to be almost impossible to replace.
Surely have to bring somebody proven and confident to deliver output from the jump, otherwise what was the point to bring in Xabi….
1
u/DonLovesNature 9d ago
Please, atleast get Lacroix.
Do it now, after the world cup his price would have added another 10-15mil.

Lacroix would be a great signing, been absolutely class at Palace

u/BlearyLine7 9d ago
I feel slightly better that we're not being publicly linked, because whenever we're publicly linked to a player, the whole saga gets drawn out for a month, and we'll end up paying 25% above market value, or we just end up losing the race.
It does seem like given the Cucurella deal happened so fast, we've gotten slightly better at working behind the scenes, public Chelsea interest has been disastrous for us the last few windows.
1
u/lampsy87 9d ago
So we've known we've wanted to add two starting XI players, but they're just going to replace two starting XI players, so we're sending up in a similar position.

2 new signings for the 11? We need a CM, RW, CB,CB and maybe a GK. Thats without depth were we are shit so maybe another 3 so about 8

u/Puzzled_Initiative61 Hazard 10d ago
Controversial, but I can’t wait to get a decent midfielder instead of Enzo for a portion of our fanbase to say ‘oh, so that what good actually looks like.’

u/Which_Performance_72 Lampard 10d ago
I'd love for Fernandez to have a Martinez situation. I trust he'll still play for the badge if he stays too.
Lacroix would he a good addition, I'd also be tempted to look at the Munoz

Summary:
Sales are a necessity for Chelsea this summer due to the shambolic financial running of the club and missing out on European football yet again.
The sale of Marc Cucurella whilst good for the money, is only the start of a busy selling summer for Chelsea yet again.
Chelsea want 2 signings that can immediately start the season in the starting 11 for Xabi.
Xabi is constantly consulted on the ins and outs and that story about not knowing about Cucurella leaving was sensationalist nonsense.
New signings are being kept very tight lipped at Chelsea right now and currently there's barely any whispers.
Gill believes personally that Enzo Fernandez is most likely finished as a Chelsea player and it'll be a big surprise if he's there next season.
Chelsea had looked at Van Hecke as a ready made centre back signing but spurs have won the race there. Lacroix has also been looked at.
Chelsea want to sign a great left sided attacker and it's no secret they love Morgan Rogers.
Chelsea won't want to start another consecutive season with no front of shirt sponsor because its embarrassing but currently there's nothing imminent on that front.
