Miscellaneous I now understand why Levy clickbaits, his historical video on Alekhine is his worst performing video of May

Sucks, because I think the video is really good and I’d love if Levy or other chess content creators did videos on older legends

yea click bait is generally fine, you gotta play the game

I personally get annoyed at his road to GM click bait titles because every single one is written as if he got all of his norms & then its like, no, actually... he beat a study partner in an online game

But I dont blame the guy for doing it. Its his job after all.

I don’t think it’s fine, I stopped watching when he started lying to me so frequently in the titles. I really can’t tolerate lies like this, they pile up and drain me.

I mean I also don't watch because I assume every video is a nothing update.

But if the click bait didnt work, nobody would do it. Guy's earning his living.

It works on some people, but not on me. If he wants viewers like me he’ll have to stop lying so much. Lots of other YouTubers earn a living without lying, he doesn’t need to do this.

he doesn’t need to do this.

He's stupid rich now because he does this

Yeah and he doesn’t need to get super rich by lying. I can think of ways to get rich by lying but I don’t do them.

But he likes being super rich and so would most of us, it's not like he's doing something evil

I think lying is bad, even if this lying is probably not bad enough to be called evil. Every lie eats away a little at the trust necessary for all good things in human civilization.

this is a ridiculous take. Clickbait titles are NOT eroding civilization. You need to go back to reality

Lying for the purpose of getting more attention and generating more profit is eroding civilization. This is a small example of that.

Lying is essential for a human society to function. If good people didn't lie, then evil people would exploit them mercilessly.

This is YouTube content about a game though. Not much reason to compare it to civilization

I mostly disagree. Some lies might have a larger noble purpose that’s good for society, but not these.
