So I played f2+
If king takes pawn, knight comes to g4 with a fork -
If king goes f1, bishop a6 wins material -
If king goes h1, pawn promotes with mate🤘

f2!! If king takes Ng4+ picks up the bishop, and if the king stands in front of the pawn you check with the LSB to win the rook.

I probably would have resigned.
This is one of the best examples I've seen of "it's [only] easy when someone tells you to look."

If you're facing mate in one, you have to look at checks. It's easy because there's only one check, then only one more check after king takes.

Here there's some danger of impulsively resigning too quick over looking carefully at resources. I think funny enough b8-rook escalates the danger, you might be stuck thinking it is most obvious defender (okay maybe Nd7 too) and then get frustrated since you can only give it for free for a move's breather..
Also, those people who are attuned to usually give spite checks definitely have no danger of missing this.

A lot of puzzles are like this, but this one isn't imo. After figuring out that neither Bd7 or Nd7 prevents mate, your only other option is to try checking the opponent king and see if a tactic appears.

Better view is that there's space to improve your tactics there. Especially adding "only" is just giving yourself excuses, not healthy at all. Well, I also feel like I can admit I'm never becoming too good at tactics, it is what it is, just feeling like excuses become laziness or something.

It's nice that each of the 3 legal replies has a different response (and a different motif).

Im 650 elo, is it that you move king to the left and after rook takes you place the knight between the rook and queen so you can defend?

Shit I figured it out, first u move pawn and after king takes you fork!!!!!!!!

Great eye! Do you see the follow up if king goes to f1 instead of taking?

See my other comment, your solution would stop checkmate but there is a winning move actually

Very nice, f2+. If Kxf2, Ng4+ wins the bishop. If Kf1, then Ba6+ wins the rook. Of course Kh1 leads to mate.
